Job Summary
The Sr. Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for developing a proactive approach to attract and retain top talent for key positions at Spectrum Brands, Inc. This includes, but is not limited to, sourcing, recruitment, selection and formulation of employment offers to candidates.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Consulting with hiring managers and HR partners to establish recruitment strategies and assess talent needs to ensure alignment with achieving business objectives.
  • Utilize business partnerships with hiring managers and candidates to build a network of qualified applicants to meet staffing needs.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the marketplace in which we recruit and establish networks. Apply innovative techniques to source and attract top candidates.
  • Facilitate recruitment meetings with the hiring manager and HR partners. Offer advice to the team when questions or concerns arise.
  • Select venues for advertising including, schools, universities, contacts, Internet, newspapers, employment agencies and other referral sources, and place ads accordingly.
  • Source and screen resumes for minimum qualifications, work history and other KSAs (knowledge, skills and abilities).
  • Facilitate discussions with hiring authority regarding which candidates are the best matches for the position.
  • Facilitates the development of first round interview questions and conduct interviews.
  • Train and facilitate hiring managers on interview best practices including providing guidance on interview best practices.
  • Recommend final candidates for department interviews in conjunction with the HR partner and hiring managers.
  • Extend employment offers.
  • Enter applicant data in the in the Applicant Tracking System.
  • Adhere to Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action guidelines and federal and state regulations in recruiting efforts.
  • Communicate with hiring managers regarding the status of their respective positions.
  • Maintain an understanding of talent across industries and functions. Provide input on various recruitment trends and practices.
  • Challenge hiring managers about talent assumptions and provide creative solutions.
  • Negotiate offers and clearly communicate complex compensation packages, including potential counter or competitor offers.
  • Notify each internal or external candidate regarding his or her status in the recruitment process and when positions are filled with other candidates.
  • Act as a liaison with Preferred Vendors and their candidates for appropriate positions. Partner with the Sourcing department if vendor support is needed.

Education and Experience Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications or related field, In lieu of degree, equivalent combination of technical and functional experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of proven progressive recruiting experience, encompassing a variety of professional, technical, exempt, non-exempt and managerial positions.


Required Skills
  • Understand how changes in business strategy impact staffing needs to build pipeline of future talent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees within the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience with interviewing methodology, behavioral and competency interviewing
  • Knowledge of creative and innovative sourcing techniques
  • Ability to operate with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and ensure timely deadlines are met
  • Must be able to perform with a high-level of ethical and professional behavior at all times
  • Comfortability to work well independently, as well as, within a team setting
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Advanced knowledge of programs including, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, HRIS systems and E-recruiting required
  • Solid knowledge of basic Human Resources laws and regulations
  • Utilization of social media from a recruitment perspective
  • Occasional overnight travel for recruiting events and training seminars or conferences


Work Environment
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. This role can will work in a Hybrid capacity, Tuesday - Thursday onsite in the office; Monday and Friday from home.
