JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Possess an advanced degree in School Psychology or related area (preferably a doctorate)

2. Be able to qualify for Missouri school psychologist certificate and/or be eligible for licensure from the state committee of psychologists.

3. Demonstrate ability to administer, score, interpret, and report results for a range of assessment instruments (including cognitive, achievement, and psychological tests)

4. Demonstrate a detailed understanding of DSM-V diagnoses and their relationship to the identification and treatment of children with mental health problems.

5. Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of research-supported practices for assessing and designing interventions for children with significant social, emotional, or behavior problems, as well as autism spectrum disorders.

6. Demonstrate a detailed understanding of Federal and State of Missouri procedures for Special Education referral, evaluation, and eligibility determinations.

7. Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the disciplinary procedures for students.

8. Demonstrate excellent communication skills (both oral and written), the ability to function productively as a member of a multi disciplinary team, and a willingness to grow and learn as a professional school psychologist.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Special Services

JOB GOAL: To support the implementation of the requirements of the IDEA and goals of the Ozark R-VI School District. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support:

1. Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team at the building level.

2. Partner with teachers and multi-disciplinary building teams to design, develop, and implement effective interventions for students with challenging behaviors. This could include the use of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) as a tool for analyzing patterns in student behavior and developing appropriate intervention strategies, such as Behavior Improvement Plans (BIP).

3. Conduct and interpret social-emotional evaluations for the purpose of educational planning and placement decisions. 4. Provide psycho-educational consultation to regular and special education teachers, administrators, support personnel and parents/families.

5. Provide direct student and staff support services including crisis response, direct services, and individual and/or group counseling; providing direct staff support services including in-service training and/or other consultative opportunities. 6. Facilitate communication and service provision between school personnel, students/families, and community-based mental health agencies and/or other health care providers.

7. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Services and building level administrators that the psychologist has been assigned to.

8. Providing guidance and support to the counselors and administration throughout the prescreening, screening, testing, and interpreting, placement process, including knowledge of the tools utilized for assessment in regards to testing.

Other:

1. To ensure the fidelity and accuracy of evaluations conducted through Ozark R-VI schools, the school psychologist will: a. Provide direct support services and training to counselors, educational diagnosticians, and other evaluators, in regard to best practices for cognitive and behavioral assessment of students, including test administration, scoring, and interpretation considerations, as well as report-writing.

b. Ensure that tests utilized are current, research-based, and reliable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to be mobile with the instructional area.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 210 days

TYPE OF POSITION: Exempt

EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Executive Director of Special Services
