DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Our engineering organization is comprised of four primary departments: Current Product Engineering (CPE), New Product Engineering (NPE), Product Validation, and Colorado Technical Center (CTC).

GILLIG's Colorado Technical Center (CTC) is an engineering hub dedicated to advancing innovative technologies for GILLIG products. CTC Electrical Engineering Systems performs research and development on communication, low voltage, and high voltage architecture for GILLIG's future products. Located in Loveland, Colorado, the CTC division plays a pivotal role in pioneering advancements in electric transportation.
ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Engineer I who will be responsible for the overall design, development, and integration of onboard High Voltage (HV) systems for new major upcoming projects. This role will evaluate design requirements and ultimately select the correct components for the application, which includes HV distribution components, power electronics, circuit protection devices etc. Projects can be broad in scope and highly complex therefore, you must be able to problem solve, exhibit good judgment, and take the initiative when called upon. This role resides in Loveland, CO reporting to the Engineering Director at our CTC.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
  • Develop high voltage architecture for next generation GILLIG technologies and platforms
  • Create and release power distribution schematics
  • Develop high voltage interface control documents for components connected to the high voltage bus
  • Own and release high voltage distribution components
  • Verify high voltage bus compatibility between components
  • Simulate high voltage bus transient and steady states
  • Be the subject-matter expert on high voltage bus system requirements cascading to components
  • Create and facilitate implementation of high voltage strategies such as fusing, EMC, and isolation monitoring
  • Use vehicle networks such as CAN to interact with high voltage components
  • Take ownership of high voltage system DFMEA
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSEE or BSCE required. Master's degree in engineering discipline a plus
  • 5 years of engineering in a related industry
  • Experience with EE design tools such as Zuken E3 and LTSpice
  • Experience with CAN analysis tools such as CANalyzer
  • Experience with ICE, electrified powertrains, collision avoidance, autonomous vehicle technology, root cause analysis, chassis/body structures, steering/suspension systems, air brake systems, vehicle dynamics, testing and validation
  • Knowledge of FMVSS, ADA, APTA Bus Procurement Guidelines, SAE HD vehicle standards, NFPA
  • Solid fundamentals in the following topics:
    • Circuit design and common components used therein
    • Thermal characteristics of electrical designs
    • Physics of voltage, current, power, and energy
    • Vehicle fundamentals
    • Electric vehicles and their theory of operation
  • Strong foundation in systems design and management, product design and development, engineering systems analysis for design and manufacturing
  • Demonstrated experience in developing systems requirements, validation, and verification strategies, as well as facilitating the successful completion compliance documentation
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262
  • Possesses highly organized documentation practices with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk and occasionally kneel or squat
  • 5% travel may be required. Travel to GILLIG headquarters in Livermore, CA may be required on occasion
  • Standard start time: 8:00 AM

EXPECTED COMPENSATION

$75,000 - $275,000/annual salary + premium benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job classification, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
