Position Summary:

The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District seeks a visionary educational leader dedicated to equity, who promotes the empowerment of every student through the collaborative development of a vision for learning shared and supported by the community. This position provides leadership which enables all students to benefit from educational opportunities through the ongoing development and improvement of the district's K-12 curriculum, instruction, and assessments.

District Goals:
  • Every educator will use effective literacy practices that are culturally and linguistically responsive, with a specific focus on students whose achievement has been most adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, so that the following are achieved by the end of the 2024-2025 school year:
    • 85% of students will reach reading proficiency by the end of third grade, as measured by the Wisconsin Forward Exam;
    • 85% of students will reach reading proficiency by the end of eighth grade, as measured by the Wisconsin Forward Exam; and
    • 85% of students will demonstrate reading proficiency by the end of 11th grade, with an ACT reading composite of 22 or higher.
  • Every student will graduate with their respective class by the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum requirement of a Master's Degree in Educational Administration or Leadership
  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Director of Instruction licensure
  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Principal licensure
  • Minimum 5 years administrative experience, including building principal experience
  • Strong background and training in equity & racial justice and all areas of curriculum and instruction

Job Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Leadership
    • Embrace change and innovation; ability to envision and actualize learning beyond the traditional walls of the classroom and the school
    • Monitor, assess, and inspire teaching practices that ensure both rigor and best practice are occurring in all classrooms
    • Analyze and share student data and educational research as the foundational principles of professional collaboration
    • Bring an equity lens to the work at the level and leadership levels
    • Facilitate the priority standards, curriculum renewal, and redesign process for all content areas PK-12th, aligned to local, state, and/or national benchmarks or standards
    • Identify and provide leadership on systems of progress monitoring and continuous improvement to ensure attainment of district, state and federal proficiency standards of performance for all students at the elementary level
    • Provide leadership to district and building level administrators in researching and applying for educational grants and other funding sources that serve to support and advance district and building initiatives.
    • Lead the initiative to implement instructional practices, delivery systems and formative assessments that maximize student growth
    • Co-facilitate student program transition from elementary to middle school and from middle school to high school
    • Keep current on legal, financial, and educational reform initiatives
    • Develops the overall K-12 curriculum development and evaluation process,
    • Works collaboratively with principals and staff to develop and implement K-12 content area core and supplemental materials adoption process
    • Plans and implements professional learning for school-based coaches
    • Plans and implements professional learning for building principals as it relates to curriculum, instruction, and assessments
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of K-12 curricular tools and resources and adjust accordingly.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of processes used to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum.
  • Operations and Human Resources Leadership
    • Provide ongoing supervision for building principals and other staff members
    • Recruit and hire qualified staff members who bring diverse experiences and a commitment to equity to the school community
    • Administer, manage, and supervise the operation of the school in compliance with the Board of Education policies and under the direction of the Superintendent or Deputy Superintendent
    • Keep current on legal, financial, and educational reform initiatives
  • Communication
    • Commit to high visibility and daily communication with stakeholders using multiple forms of communication
    • Meet regularly with district- and building-level leaders and staff to assist in meeting the needs of all learners
    • Provide updates on the instructional program or district initiatives to the board of education
  • Operations Management
    • Administer, manage, and supervise the operation of assigned budgets in compliance with the Board of Education policies and under the direction of the Superintendent.
    • Keep current on legal, financial, and educational reform initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
