Description
This position is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients presenting at the North Dirksen
Express Care. This position will serve in a provider pool to ensure the clinic is covered at all times.
This position will require shift work to include weekdays, weekend days and holidays. At times, this
position may teach learners who rotate through the express care setting.
Examples of Duties
Qualifications
A. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations;
B. Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program;
C. Received a passing score on the national certifying exam at time of hire;
D. If a nurse practitioner, must be board certified in family medicine.

Description

Examples of Duties
- Teach and evaluate medical students, residents, physician assistants, and nurse practitioner students as they rotate through the express care site.
- Role model provision of care by a physician assistant or nurse practitioner focusing on health education, health promotion, primary and secondary disease prevention, and procedures.
- Provide diagnosis and treatment of common acute illness for patients in the Express
Care. - Participate in Center Peer Review and Quality Improvement Activities.
C. Provide emergency services to patients as needed including those who are identified as having no primary care physician. - Serve on the Center-wide Committees, as assigned.
- Serve on school and department committees, as assigned.
- Participate in community outreach projects, as requested.
- Maintain competence in clinical practice using continuing education opportunities,
professional conferences, and maintains licensure/certification.
