How You'll Perform the Role

The Pricing Manager is a key member of the business unit leadership team. This role works cross-functionally with Sales, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), Sourcing, Finance, Accounting, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Product/Market Development teams. The Pricing Manager takes a holistic approach that accounts for external factors such as customer and competitor behavior, as well as internal factors such as costs, processes and information technology across two main pricing areas: price setting (defining the price) and price execution (ensuring we get the price we set) in order to meet both volume and profit objectives of the company. They provide enterprise-wide visibility to pricing tradeoffs. The Pricing Manager will lead and manage a team of Pricing Analysts to accomplish these objectives.
  • Work closely will sales leadership in developing and executing pricing strategy, analyze/assess the performance of this strategy and implement corrective actions if needed.
  • Evaluate Customer/Bundle Profitability
  • Evaluate and maintain market price integrity while understanding the competitive environment
  • Manage and/or participate in larger scale analytical projects associated with product line performance
  • Lead Request for Proposals (RFP)/Bids including internet auctions and Request for Information (RFI) for major retail, distributor, food service, supermarkets, clubs, commercial and inter-company customers. This includes securing quotes from other Novolex Business Units if needed
  • Maintain Pricing Model (costs, machine speeds, waste, ink yields, item weights and all other cost factors); annually update with new budget numbers and adjust as directed by Finance when inconsistencies are identified
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the product line, manufacturing capabilities, print methods and the ERP system
  • Work with Sourcing on understanding raw material market drivers and changes in costs; promptly determine impact of raw material cost increases and take action to mitigate them
  • Track price increase execution and measure effectiveness of the same
  • Track and evaluate quote activity, quote turnaround times, and win/loss analytics. Provide periodic feedback on these metrics to appropriate groups; responsible for accurate and timely quotes to customers
  • Track and initiate pricing contract renewals
  • Work closely with legal department to build customer contracts with relevant pricing data - evaluate/revise language & schedule regarding price escalation/de-escalation, inventory terms, most favored price terms etc.
  • Key contributor to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP)/Budget process


What We Need From You

  • Four-year college degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Upwards of 4 years of experience in an analytical role (Pricing, Business Analysis, Strategic Marketing, Business Development)
    • At least 2 years of previous management experience building and leading a high functioning team required
    • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred
  • Must have strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Must be highly proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Must have experience building financial models and must have a strong understand of costing
