Working directly under the President of the Company the overarching goal of the Director of Engineering is to lead the group of Engineering Managers from a perspective of "we know how to do design work and we will do it on-time, on-budget, and we will have a good time doing it". RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Engineering reports to the President and is accountable for producing results regarding:
  • Supervision of the Engineering Managers
    • Consistent and continuous supervision and direction means applying your own knowledge and experience for design and development to each of the different Engineering Managers.
    • The Engineering Managers will each manage 2-6 engineers and designers, and product design from design to execution for the company's internal and external engineering services, including mechanical and structural calculations, hydraulics, controls, documentation, and support manuals.
    • To successfully manage a group of engineers and designers, the Sr. Director must possess the fundamental engineering skills and knowledge he/she will be asking Engineering Managers to use. Heavy experience in systems design, structural design with calculations, intimate familiarity with engineering terms and definitions such as shear (direct and torsional), bending (single and multiaxial), compressive and tensile stresses, combined stresses, material yield and ultimate strengths, and safety factors will be a must because they will be used daily on the job. A good, solid knowledge of machine capabilities and manufacturing processes is vital to this position.
    • Serve as a member of the company's leadership team.
    • Build, develop and manage engineering team capable of carrying out initiatives.
    • Interact with customers to secure business, develop requirements and concepts and help develop bids.
    • Maintain and optimize budgets and schedules to meet goals.
    • Recommend new technology and ideas to improve project timelines and efficiency for designing new product.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive mechanical, structural, and hydraulic design experience.
  • Leadership and strategic thinking with interpersonal and employee-to-employee skills.
  • Have problem solving and analysis experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Experience with 3D CAD and FEA.
  • Have customer interface experience.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
