Job Description

Work in an exciting, fast-paced collaborative team environment which delivers cutting-edge simulation technology for training US Navy Nuclear Operators. The Naval Reactors Facility of NNL is looking for a self-assessment lead. The self-assessment lead coordinates self-assessment for the site and has the opportunity to influence the sites improvement efforts. Additionally, this individual will be part of a team that owns continuous improvement, audit facilitation, a behavior-based safety program, canister certification, and engineering support. Other duties may apply.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 9 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 7 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified; or qualified SIT and 3 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Currently or previously CRE qualified; or 6 years as SRE; or SRE qualified and 9 years of experience.

  • Experience with a product line at the Naval Reactors Facility.
  • Experience with self-assessment.
    • How to make it value added.
    • How to influence managers and employees to value it.
    • Experience developing and deploying metrics.
  • Experience getting buy-in for broad changes.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with LEAN tools and processes.
  • LEAN belt certification

Pay Range

$103,100.00 - $161,100.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
