Sr. Systems Administrator (3611)

SMX is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support INSCOM PSI-CoE at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.The ideal candidate for the system administrator role possesses a strong background in systems administration, with a proven track record of effectively managing server environments and ensuring optimal performance and reliability. They are adept at troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cyber compliance standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide systems administration support for assigned system servers.
• Analyze system requirements.
• Design system configurations.
• Install necessary software.
• Partition system resources.
• Install and configure device drivers.
• Perform testing and performance optimization.
• Conduct preventive maintenance tasks.
• Document system configurations and procedures.
• Perform backup and recovery operations.

Required Skills, Experience & Education

• Top Secret clearance required with NATO access.
• Windows Server 2019 or later - must be certified in a Microsoft Windows Server product which complies with DoD 8570 requirements.
• Proficiency in systems administration for server environments.
• Strong analytical skills for system analysis and design.
• Experience with software installation and configuration.
• Knowledge of partitioning and resource allocation principles.
• Familiarity with device driver installation and configuration.
• Ability to conduct testing and performance optimization.
• Understanding of preventive maintenance practices for server systems.
• Documentation skills for maintaining records and procedures.
• Experience with backup and recovery operations for server environments.

Desired Skills, Experience & Education

• Cyber Compliance: Familiarity with vulnerability management in accordance with RMF requirements outlined in DODI 8510.01.
• Active Directory: Experience in administering and maintaining user accounts, system group policy, certificates, and services within Active Directory.
• Server Virtualization Support: Proficiency in administering and maintaining server virtualization environments, including virtual private servers, guests, instances, containers, and emulations.
