UW Medical Center-Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Nurse Manager to join us in our brand-new Neuromodulation Clinic. The Neuromodulation Clinic is part of UW Medicine's Center for Behavioral Health and Learning - a first-of-its-kind, comprehensive facility designed to transform the way we approach mental health care.
WORK SCHEDULE:
40 hours per week
Monday - Friday
Day shifts only
No call responsibilities
RNs currently work 6:00am - 2:30pm; shift hours may change in the future

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Garvey Institute Center for Neuromodulation provides outpatient, evidence-based Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) services for adult patients with major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, catatonia, and schizophrenia. Clinical staff will regularly work with patients under anesthesia and will provide support before, during, and after the ECT and TMS procedures.

The new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning, opening on the UW Medical Center - Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in NW Seattle, the new facility will feature 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25 geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art neuromodulation program. It will also house an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State. The six-story building will be a beautiful place to work with lots of windows, natural lighting and open-concept spaces and will offer amenities including a new kitchen and dining area for patients, staff and visitors.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as a shift supervisor, responsible for clinical functions, staffing assignments, and care coordination
Acts as the main onsite leadership when the Nurse Manager is not present
Collaborates with Nurse Manager on day-to-day operations
Performs pre-admission intake assessments, including assessments of the patient's physical and psychological states
Oversees patient placement and throughput
Plans, implements, and evaluates unit orientation for clinical staff (RNs and CNAs)
Fosters clinical excellence and incorporates clinical standards into daily practice
Provides performance feedback to the Nurse Manager during annual performance evaluations
Provides "just in time" feedback to staff regarding clinical performance, interpersonal team interactions, and patient communications
Responds appropriately to emergency situations and drills
Promotes practices and decisions that reduce human error and promote patient safety
When needed, provides bedside nursing care to behavioral health patients receiving Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
2 years of recent behavioral health, perioperative, ICU, or emergency department nursing experience
Previous charge, lead, or supervisory work experience
An active ACLS (required by start date)
An active BLS (required by state date)
Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
