Job Summary:
PIC Group has an exciting opportunity for an Industrial Process Control Systems Engineer at a leading power-generating facility in Montana. The Industrial Process Control Systems Engineer role involves working with distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controls (PLC's) and instrumentation to ensure the efficient operation of industrial equipment. Ideal candidates will possess strong technical skills in electrical engineering with a focus on process control systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in smaller engineering projects or specific areas of larger projects under supervision.
Investigate, evaluate, and contribute to technically sound and cost-effective designs or recommendations.
Cultivate relationships to facilitate knowledge transfer and cross-functional collaboration.
Gain competencies in various functions through structured work in both field and home office settings.
Gather and analyze engineering data using established procedures, including testing and studies.
Continuously enhance technical and business skills with guidance from mentors.
Contribute to the development of innovative procedures and equipment recommendations.
Job Requirements:
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and components
Experience with process control systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), DCS (Distributed Control Systems),
Familiarity with industrial automation protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, or Ethernet/IP
Assist in design, implement, and troubleshoot control systems for industrial processes.
Understanding of safety standards and regulations in industrial environments
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Willingness to adapt to new technologies and learn continuously.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to climb fixed and movable ladders up to 35 feet high.
Ability to repetitively lift, bend, kneel, walk, and climb daily, depending on plant operation issues and work to be done.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with a focus on process control systems from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent.
Internship or co-op experience in the energy industry is desirable.
Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate is a plus.
