Crossroads Charter Academy is currently hiring a full time Superintendent.
Crossroads Charter Academy is located in Big Rapids, Michigan and serves communities in the surrounding area. Our academy is not restricted to residential boundaries, which allows us to reach out to families in the suburban and rural areas of Mecosta and Osceola counties.
Crossroads Charter Academy is a K-12 school with a unique learning method focusing on the needs of students as individuals. Our K-5 students are taught using personalized learning which also incorporates project based learning. CCA's 6th - 12th grade students are offered flexible scheduling to accommodate learning outside the walls of the school through internships, college dual enrollment and various community projects.
Crossroads Charter Academy embraces the Small Schools Initiative, serving approximately 300 students who work closely with a teacher, either as advisor or homeroom teacher, to monitor individual student progress and to tailor the school experience to meet individual needs and interests.
Staff at Crossroads Charter Academy are part of a learning community participating in year-long professional development designed to support and develop teachers through a process of reflection and practice. Through a dynamic and supportive environment, all staff are encouraged to bring new ideas and participate in problem solving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Believe in and communicate the mission, vision and purpose of the Academy to all stakeholders.
Ensure the academic success and emotional welfare of all students.
Establish strong relationships with students, families, and staff to develop a positive culture that fulfills the mission of the Academy.
Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate assigned Academy staff and determine required professional development.
Develop strategic community partnerships and programs for school-wide success.
Interpret data and implement instructional and procedural strategies that reflect high expectations for students and staff.
Assist with planning and implementing school programs and events that promote positive public and school-community relations.
Motivate staff and students to reach ambitious targets; set similar, personal SMART goals.
Maintain a balanced school budget and pursue opportunities to increase funding.
Responsible for daily operations at the Academy with regard to safety, compliance, and living within the approved Academy budget.
Demonstrate innovative ways of responding to challenges that reflect a dedication and belief that all children can succeed, especially those from marginalized backgrounds.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in school administration, supervision, curriculum or related area.
Hold a valid Michigan school administrator's certification.
Three years of successful teaching experience or related experience with students.
Previous school leadership experience with demonstrated success meeting school enrollment and achievement targets, across diverse subgroups.
Demonstrate advanced organizational and communication skills with students, parents and staff.
Possess a positive work history in a culturally diverse setting.
Approach problems with a solutions-oriented, equitable, and innovative attitude.
Able to manage multiple, complex projects at one time, working both independently and collaboratively.
Knowledge of the school improvement process and experience engaging staff in co-construction
of improvement plans and effective professional learning opportunities.
