The Swift Group is looking for a Systems Engineer to join an exciting mission oriented program. The role is located on onsite in Herndon, VA and requires a TS/SCI with Poly clearance.
This role is focused on the implementation process and IT operations with focus on issues, and resolutions, including integration of computer systems and networks. The Systems Engineer will support in a general perspective and larger concern with the organization's essential objectives. The precise role and accountability of the Systems Engineer may change from task to task based on the scope and complexity of the assignment and with different phases of a systems life cycle. This role will work in a team-based model, with a Team Lead and a Project Manager, and Systems Administrators as well as collaborate with other teams or service providers. The Systems Engineer responsibilities will support servers and computer systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively maintain and develop current data operations infrastructure to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service predominantly utilizing Splunk
- Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
- Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
- Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions
- Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
- Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware
- Create and modify python and bash scripts or applications to perform tasks
- Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
- Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
Required Qualifications:
- 11+ years' experience in Systems Engineering.
- Expert level experience utilizing capabilities in Linux to manage and create custom solutions to enable data management across various data types
- Experience with data queuing and processing as well as moving data across separate domains cross domain solutions
- Experience managing data flow using NiFi or similar products
- Experience managing and administering Splunk in a large-scale enterprise clustered environment
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS): EC2, S3 and EFS storage
- Ability to respond to occasional 24x7 support
- Experience managing cloud-based and on-premises systems
- BA/BS Degree
- US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Splunk Administrator or Architect
- Virtual machine (VM) technologies (ESXi, VCenter, VSphere)
- Experience with deploying and managing SIEM systems
- Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) experience in managing diverse system data
- Experience supporting a DevOps framework
- Experience architecting solutions with out-of-the-box thinking for improvements and efficiencies
- MA/MS Degree
