Essential Functions
  • Within the Group Health & Safety framework, drafts the health and safety action plans (Annual prevention Plan APP, Safety Action Plan (SAP)) adapted to the site and has them validated as well as the means (human, budgetary, technical, IT, etc.) needed for these action plans to be implemented.
  • Verifies that Group and site health & safety action plans are developed as well as health & safety standards, tools and methods (internal audits, risk evaluation, etc.); follows up the completion via pilot indicators.
  • Proposes to the Site HR Manager the health & safety training plan & follows its implementation as well as implements health & safety awareness actions.
  • Advises and assists different departments on daily health & safety-related issues, proposes preventative measures, participates in making the equipment and facilities compliant by being associated with the projects as much as possible from the start. Organizes management safety visits and participates in the safety cross-audits.
  • Ensures that the Site Health, Safety and Working Conditions Committees are operating well by preparing, leading and following up with corrective actions.
  • H&S regulations are respected (in documentations, processes, installations, etc).
  • Verifies that existing H&S regulations are respected (in documentations, processes, installations, etc).
  • Manages the prevention plans in collaboration with the technical services and organizes the emergency simulation exercises. In case of dangerous equipment/installations, implements appropriate preventive systems (check-list, training, supervision of equipment recommended maintenance, etc.).
  • In case of incidents, accidents or situations involving risks, organizes, analyses and implements the necessary corrective actions as well as takes charge of communication with the various group levels.
  • Maintains good relations with the relevant administrations and authorities (firefighters, etc.)
  • Leads the reflection and search for ongoing progress actions in the Health & Safety domain, conducts a technology watch over his domain of activity.
  • Manages the chemical risk assessment procedure (new products authorization, application rules, etc).

Required Skills
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge (chemistry, physiology, biology, etc.) to all ability to communicate efficiently with company operational teams
  • Working knowledge of H&S regulations (including environment, working conditions, health, etc) and standards (OHSAS 18001), Safety techniques (risk analysis, emergency, first aid, fire prevention, etc.), and of how to conduct overall and appropriate regulatory health and safety supervision.
  • Maintains awareness of innovation and improvement in areas of Health and Safety (new technologies, processes, etc) in order to offer and implement new ideas and projects.
  • Ability to write easily accurate requests for certification, regulatory reports, and production authorization reports.
  • Demonstrated attributes to become a strong team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, versatile, and service oriented.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management teams, colleagues, and employees and ability to teach/instruct/train personnel in accident prevention, response, emergency preparedness, use of protective equipment, etc.
  • Ability to observe and identify workplace hazards and reduce accidents and exposure to harmful situations and substances.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in health, safety, and environmental field of study
  • 3-5 years' experience in health, safety, and environment
  • HSE qualification such as OSHA general certificate or equivalent
  • In depth knowledge of legislation (OSHA/EPA/DOT, air permitting) and procedures
  • Excellent organizational skills and knowledge with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage projects.
  • Excellent analytical skills to be able to present with high integrity to company management as well as third parties
