JOB SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design Industrial Gas Turbine Engine components and systems to meet Fit, Form and Functional requirements and design criteria. Responsibility for design commonality across assigned product lines.
- Support the continued development and oversee the adherence to PSM design systems including job folders and documentation, technical reviews, drawings and engineering changes and field validation plans and verification.
- Analyze components to ensure parts maintain appropriate stress levels, meets life requirements and design criteria.
- Utilize appropriate design/analysis tools, such as ProEngineer, ANSYS/Abaqus, Microsoft Excel or similar.
- Evaluate supplier quotes and capabilities to ensure supplier can meet quality and schedule requirements.
- Assess needs and identify critical path schedules for design, manufacturing and procurement activities.
- New product manufacturing development.
- Create, lead and/or deliver presentations to internal and external clients.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Training
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
- Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM's EHS Training Matrix
Skills/Experience
- 2-3+ years of experience designing, analyzing, and manufacturing gas turbine engine components and/or large rotating components. Combination of education, experience and research work will be considered.
- Strong analytical decision-making and organizational skills are required.
- Experience with FEA software desired (ANSYS or Abaqus).
- Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, general machining and fabrication techniques is preferred.
- Familiar with vibration and dynamics analysis of rotating structures.
- Familiar with advanced FEM modeling techniques such as nonlinearity, contact, and creep.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to perform hands-on fieldwork is strongly desired.
- Travel is required on an as needed basis.
