The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, number of months worked, as well as internal equity among our team.

Job Purpose:

The Director of Alumni Engagement supports the College's efforts to facilitate lifelong connections between the institution and its constituents. This position leads the strategic execution of a comprehensive alumni engagement program that builds opportunities for alumni to learn, lead, volunteer, and give back to the College.

The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to meaningfully engage alumni and friends to deepen their connections with St. Scholastica. The Director understands that all outreach and engagement efforts should ultimately inspire participation in philanthropy and will work collaboratively with the members of the College Advancement team and key campus partners to pursue and promote the overall College goals related to engagement and advancement. In addition to alumni and College activities, it is important for the Director to be visible at events sponsored by the College and other departments, plus collaborate closely with peers in marketing and communication.

The position will be a member of the College Advancement staff and will report to the Associate Vice President for College Advancement.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop vision, strategy, and goals for alumni engagement and ensure fulfillment of those objectives through metrics and reporting.
  • Serve as the staff lead for the Alumni Association Board of Directors including meeting planning, director relations, and member recruitment.
  • Plan and coordinate major alumni events (Homecoming, Reunion, Commencement reception, etc.) in addition to regional alumni events and gatherings.
  • Collaborate on all College Advancement events.
  • Serve as lead content creator for alumni communications (digital, social media, magazine, printing, etc.) including writing and editing.
  • Build working relationships with deans and faculty to strategize and enhance alumni programming and cultivate and steward alumni relationships.
  • Serve as liaison to the President's Office for all alumni events.
  • Collaborate with departments across the College to incorporate Alumni Engagement strategies into existing events.
  • Engage constituents in the life of the College through consistent and positive personal interaction, exceptional service, meaningful volunteer opportunities, personal and professional development, and programming.
  • Maintain an active portfolio of key alumni and donors through 1:1 relationship building.
  • Work collaboratively with Advancement Services to ensure alumni records are maintained and to identify constituents for deeper engagement.
  • Supervise and support the success of the Alumni Engagement team.
  • Contribute to the overall success of College Advancement by working on all duties and assignments from the Associate Vice President and/or Vice President for College Advancement
  • Travel and weekend/evening work as required to fulfill job responsibilities

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in alumni relations work or in a closely related field with transferable skills
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel throughout the United States, and occasionally internationally

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Alumna/us of the College
  • Master's degree
  • Experience in the recruitment and management of volunteers
  • Experience with advancement software (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Slate, etc.)
