This is a provisional Civil Service appointment

LOCATION: Rush-Henrietta Central School District

SALARY: Competitive per Rush-Henrietta Administrators' Contract, based on experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be reachable from the current Director of School Safety & Security Civil Service list OR have a Bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in a NYS police organization in the rank of Captain or above. Must take the next Civil Service exam for Director of School Safety & Security and be reachable for appointment from resulting list. Must have demonstrated leadership experience in safety and security, along with experience collaborating with school districts on safety and security issues. Possession of or ability to obtain registration as NYS security guard immediately upon appointment is required.

DESCRIPTION: Rush-Henrietta is seeking a Director of District Safety who will be responsible for directing and supervising school district safety and security functions. The essential duties include, but are not limited to, evaluating, developing, and monitoring programs, practices, measures and procedures as well as relevant staff training.
  • Reviews and makes refinements to the Districtwide Safety Plans.
  • Evaluates safety/security measures and practices regularly and makes appropriate adjustments where necessary.
  • Conducts after-action reviews of significant incidents and events to assess areas of strengths and improvement and ensures identified areas of refinements are addressed.
  • Provides and maintains uniform requirements and standards to building leaders for the development of building emergency response plans, including required content and format per State expectations.
  • Consults regularly with district and building leaders on security-related matters, and provides expert guidance and resources for best practices.
  • Serves as the District's liaison at county meetings with other school district Safety Directors, and participates on security-related committees and task forces as the District Representative
