SUMMARY:

Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. Its members throughout the United States and the world are the premier advocates for civil rights in their communities, conducting voter mobilization and monitoring equal opportunity in the public and private sectors. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for equal rights, seeks an experienced Training & Campaign Manager to support its Youth & College Division.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Reporting to the National Director of Youth and College Division, the duties and responsibilities of the Training & Campaign Manager, Youth & College include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Effectively and enthusiastically deliver essential training to Youth & College units and chapters
  • Work closely with the Youth & College Field Manager and other NAACP division staff
  • Develop campaign plans and organizing materials for field campaigns
  • Develop new content and update existing training modules as necessary, ensuring compliance with best practices
  • Develop and implement national training to engage youth units & young adult standing committees to address key "Areas of Innovation" as defined in the NAACP Strategic Plan
  • Manage resources guides, tool kits, and training curriculum for the Youth & College membership.
  • Oversee the electoral action trainings, civic engagement plans and implementation for GOTV, Voter Registration and trainings on all member units.
  • Guide partner campaigns as aligned with our NAACP Strategic Centers of Innovation.
  • Plan and facilitate campus for Grassroots Organizing Weekend Trainings (GROW)
  • Facilitate planning, staffing and recruiting for NAACP retreats, conventions, summits and CRATIs.
  • Assist in the development of training tools and other credible resources that will build capacity of our local units.
  • Oversee training and capacity-building activities related to grassroots organizing and advocacy campaigns; expose target constituencies to fundamental principles that enhance their ability to create social change in their local communities.
  • Manage local and campus-based campaigns by developing shared values and a national platform around the framework of each game changer.
  • Implement multi-faceted advocacy and civic participation training on key issues, including supporting of college and young adult leadership and members to act as organizers and advocates in establishing alliances to integrate non-members into NAACP campaigns. This will be accomplished while operating within campaign accountability standards established by the National Youth & College Director.
  • Develop work plans and evaluation tools to measure and track goals and benchmarks
  • Responsible for the enrollment, tracking and reporting process student leaders and units.
  • Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by the National Director of Youth & College Division


QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate for this position will possess many, if not all, of the following professional qualifications, competencies and personal qualities:
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university, preferred
  • 5+ years of training experience, preferably in a national non-profit organization
  • Familiarity with NAACP history, structure, mission, and programs
  • Expertise in community, non-profit, and non-partisan issue-based organizing with specific skills including organizational development and management, grassroots activism, and education and leadership development
  • Exceptional attention to details and performing tasks accurately
  • Ability to work in teams, participate in cross-departmental planning, and work with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Experience with strategic planning and the creation and implementation of training
  • Ability to handle multiple priority projects and meet established timelines and reporting requirements
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Manage internal committees and overall deadline and goals
  • Provide units and strategic partners with one-on-one training assistance and support on developing, implementing and evaluating organizational training plans
  • Proven experience in supervision and personnel management
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
