Job Description
Under general supervision this position performs complex diagnostics, repairs, calibrations, modifications, and routine service on a wide variety of facilities and building equipment, systems, structures and hardware, including air handlers, domestic water, chilled water, hot water, steam, humidification, building exhaust, compressed air, controls, lighting, electrical, security systems, fire systems, etc. This role produces workmanship commensurate with journeyman level, that is, competent and reliable, in one or several of the following trades: heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, welding, or electronics.
Complete preventive maintenance (PMs)
Implement standard trade practices and procedures (using appropriate safety precautions) for routine maintenance
Provide technical assistance to junior staff
Perform general housekeeping duties in the work areas and shop
Provide data and reports as required
Maintain a working knowledge of Company specific Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, programs, and goals as applicable to this position
Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on all site solar, substation, and associated equipment
Troubleshoot complicated electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic problems including: Inverter faults, Tracker faults, network communications, ground faults, collection issues, substation issues, and general site performance issues.
Understand the electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic functions of all components of the solar site and associated equipment.
Conduct site maintenance daily, wearing all required safety equipment, to inspect, maintain, and repair equipment.
Maintain company tooling, facilities, and equipment in a clean safe work environment
Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements
A combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) years; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local regulations
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
(10) years of technical experience (electrical, mechanical instrument & controls, etc.) and/or technical education.
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization
Ability to read and interpret building layouts, system drawings, and manufacturers' equipment specifications
Willing to work nights during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather
Ability to climb/work safely from a portable step ladder
Ability to understand directions, read prints, follow procedures, and complete tasks with minimal oversight
Effective communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to move and manipulate up to 50 pounds.
Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent appropriate General Certificates of Secondary Education or global equivalent preferred
Ten (10) years experience with installation or maintenance of controls systems
Minimum five (5) years of trade school education or global equivalent
License(s) and certification(s) as required
Ability to read and interpret building layouts, system drawings and manufacturers' equipment specifications
Knowledge and experience with sophisticated hand tools and test equipment
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Experience with PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, and network communications and monitoring preferred.
Experience in an industrial environment dealing with machine repair and maintenance (Manufacturing, Automotive, Food Processing, Automation, Facilities) as a maintenance technician, electrician, electronic tech, field engineer or technician, service tech, etc.
Experience with the operation of various SCADA systems preferred.
Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, I-V Curve Tracing, Meggers, and Ground Fault Detection
Strong Analytical and Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard practices
Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams/schematics
Proficiency with MS Office suite

Prepare scope of work for bid packages, review bids, and make recommendations for award
Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school is required. An Associate Degree in a technical field is desirable.
Extensive working knowledge of the power plant industry is desirable
Experience as a Control Room Operator or equivalent position in an operating or generating plant. Experience in the direct operation of a solar power plant preferred.
Experience in water chemistry control, water condition analysis, water treatment facility operations, and chemical handling requirements is desired
Theoretical and practical knowledge of industrial safety, hazardous waste management, and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable
Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls desirable
Experience reading and interpreting DCS logic
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Must have excellent organizational skills
