POSITION DESCRIPTION
Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primacy responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Location Plans, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel Detail Drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Battery Loading Calculations in accordance with national consensus codes and standards. Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers or subcontract personnel. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, Design Build Specifications, and Purchase Requisitions.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree in applicable science or engineering discipline.

Position will be on-site in Aiken, SC.

Anticipated Work Schedule: 4 10 hour shifts Monday through Thursday. Shift can change with managerial approval

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidate must demonstrate twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
- Candidate functioning as Fire Protection Engineers shall be a graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum. If not such a graduate, candidate must be a Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection.
- Candidate possessing full membership in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) or a NICET Level III certification in the applicable subfield is deemed to have met the above requirements.
- Candidate must demonstrate eight (8) years of recent design experience, four (4) of which shall include alarm & detection systems design. General knowledge of electrical/control systems, connection diagrams, layout plans, logic diagrams, panel layout details, P&ID's, and battery loading calculations is required. Candidate must possess a working knowledge of Codes and Standards applicable to fire detection and alarm systems, such as NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, NFPA 101, IBC, and various other ISA and IEEE standards.
- Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required.
- Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "L" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
- Must have working knowledge of Federal (including DOE) and State code applicable to engineering design.
- Previous SRNS design experience is preferred.
- Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two years.
- Experience with 2D Microstation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) is preferred. Ability to use Windows Microsoft Office applications is required. Previous SRS Design Engineering experience is preferred.
