Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking to hire an experienced Sr Network Engineer to manage and maintain our company's enterprise network. As a Sr Network Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring junior network engineering staff and handling advanced support issues. You will be responsible for the functional management of our network, the processing of tasks, and the resolution of network issues.
Nippon Express USA ISD (Information Systems Division) operation supports all Nippon Express USA's and subsidiaries' locations in U.S.A, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors ticketing system for incoming requests and incidents with the goal to resolve regular and escalated issues efficiently.
- Improves network performance and reliability based upon system performance metrics, including capacity planning, failure detection and remediation.
- Oversees the planning and execution of network projects and collaborate with cross-functional departments to meet business objectives.
- Installs and configures networking hardware.
- Conducts regular network performance tests.
- Safeguards an organization's computer systems and networks from security breaches, cyber threats, and vulnerabilities.
- Mentors and train junior network engineer(s) to enhance team capabilities.
- Develops and maintains network documentation for reference and compliance purposes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATION:
Proven experience as a Sr Network Engineer or similar role in a large-scale environment.
Ability to:
- Plan, design, deploy and support LAN/WAN/ and IP architectures.
- Design and maintain security controls for network infrastructure.
- Conduct network security assessments and recommend remediation actions.
- Enhance security monitoring and detection systems to identify abnormal behavior.
- Multi-task, prioritize and consistently meet deadlines, follow up and effectively use time.
- Communicate technical ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing to train and provide support to users.
- Effectively carry out difficult and complex assignments, while exercising independent judgment and initiative.
- Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperative relationship with co-workers and end-users.
(In-Depth) Knowledge of:
- Networking protocols, hardware, and software solutions including deploying network services and protocols such as Network routing, Network switching, WLAN (including 802.1x auth with Cisco ISE), Firewall (Cicso ASA and FTD, IPSec VPN IKEv1 and 2, Anyconnect VPN with ISE and DUO MFA, IPS/IDS with FMC), Experience of Cisco and Juniper network devices command lines, Experience of office/ warehouse network design and project management, Experience of DHCP / DNS server management, basic understanding of client / server model, basic understanding of MicroSoft Active Directly, Basic understanding of Windows OS, Basic understanding of Linux OS.
- Network analysis tools including SolarWinds, Wireshark, Cisco debug commands
Education / Experience:
- Degree in computer Science, Information System, or related field or the equivalent in education and work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in large-scale environments as a network engineer.
- Hands-on experience with network security
- Extensive experience in traditional route/switch, Wireless technologies, VPN, SSL, DNS, DHCP, and ISE.
- Preferred Professional certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP etc.)
ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULING:
- Work is performed in designated administrative office settings in Des Plaines, IL
- Must be flexible and available to work additional hours and carry an on-call phone when necessary.
