Position Overview: The Chief Finance and Operations Officer (CFOO) is a senior executive responsible for overseeing the financial and operational functions of the Florence Unified School District. The CFOO ensures the financial health of the district, manages the budget, oversees operations including warehouse operations, food services and transportation, and aligns financial and operational strategies with the district's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the district's annual budget, ensuring alignment with educational priorities and strategic goals.
- Monitor financial performance, prepare financial reports, and provide regular updates to the Superintendent and School Board.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls and efficient use of resources.
- Manage the district's investments and debt, including bond issuance and management.
- Oversee payroll, accounting, purchasing, and other financial operations.
- Direct and manage the district's operational functions, including warehouse operations, transportation and food services.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of district operations.
- Oversee the funding for maintenance, renovation, and construction of district facilities.
- Ensure the effective and efficient operation of transportation services, including bus routing and maintenance.
- Collaborate with other district leaders to align operational strategies with educational goals.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the district's strategic plan, providing financial and operational insights and recommendations.
- Lead initiatives to improve financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and resource allocation.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
- Provide leadership and direction to the finance and operations teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with district administrators, principals, and other stakeholders to support the district's educational mission.
- Serve as a key advisor to the Superintendent and School Board on financial and operational matters.
- Represent the district at community meetings, public hearings, and other forums as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, educational leadership or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 5 -10 years of experience in financial management, preferably in an educational or public sector setting.
- Proven experience in overseeing operational functions, including food services, transportation, and warehouse operations.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and implement effective financial and operational strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:
- This position typically works in an office environment but may require occasional travel to school sites and other locations within the district.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to attend School Board meetings, public hearings, or other events.

Working Environment:
- The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- May be required to travel to various school district buildings and attend professional meetings as needed, actively participating in the collective efforts to empower the community.
Terms of Employment:
- Salary schedule commensurate with education and experience for this position
