Description:
Terrific Senior/Director of Development position, with a well-known public policy nonprofit in San Francisco, CA. This role will be a member of the senior management team and lead all fundraising efforts for the organization. This includes the design, implementation, and management of an overall fundraising strategy. The position will serve as a front-line fundraiser, cultivating relationships and securing funds from various sources, including government, individuals (focus on $50k+), and corporations. The role will also research and identify new funding sources for the organization. The Senior/Director of Development will manage, mentor and train a team of two. This is a hands-on role that will collaborate with the research team, executive management, the Board and various advisory groups to drive the fundraising process. Qualified candidates will have approximately 10+ years of relevant experience, including time in a management role. Candidates should have an understanding of public policy and be excited about working in a nonpartisan environment. This position will be at either the Senior Director or Director level, based on experience. The organization operates on a hybrid model and the position can be based in the San Francisco, CA (preferred) or Sacramento, CA areas. The salary range for this position is approximately $170,000 to $210,000 per year, based on experience.

Responsibilities:
- Strategically develop and execute fundraising plans that include major gifts ($50k+), grant funding, planned giving, and sponsorships
- Research, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation prospects
- Develop campaigns and special events to steward and cultivate donors
- Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors and the President to cultivate board member giving
- Work with communications colleagues to craft donor communications
- Analyze fundraising trends and data
- Manage and mentor a team of two fundraising professionals
Qualifications:
- Approximately 10+ of years relevant experience, including time in a management role
- Excellent relationship building skills, with the ability to connect with donors
- Demonstrated track record of success in securing gifts and leading fundraising teams to meet or exceed goals
- Thrive in a hands-on, highly collaborative workplace
- Ability to interface with constituents and colleagues at all levels, including executive management
- Desire to travel within California to attend events and meet with donors, as needed
- Salesforce or a similar donor CRM
- Experience with a public policy or think tank nonprofit a plus
- Excited about working in a nonpartisan environment
