This role is responsible for supporting network deployment activities, enterprise sales, and multi-dwelling unit (MDU) sales in building a superior network that maximizes the number of subscribers. This role requires continuous learning of the methodologies of extending the Company's core networks and distribution network architectures.

This role is responsible for supporting network deployment activities, enterprise sales, and multi-dwelling unit (MDU) sales in building a superior network that maximizes the number of subscribers. This role requires continuous learning of the methodologies of extending the Company's core networks and distribution network architectures.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Identifies the most feasible tie-in points for plant extensions to serve enterprise (commercial) customers and MDU facilities.
- Utilizes geospatial software such as Google Earth and 3GIS to interpret, manipulate, and create KMZ/KML files illustrating proposed construction.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with fiber to the home (FTTH) team, fixed wireless team, and transport team to propose alternative solutions during the design phase in response to company strategy to potential customers and/or to property owners.
- Interprets the level of service and installation method that has been negotiated with the customer or property owner following cross-functional planning with enterprise and MDU account executives.
- Works together with field operations and field construction personnel to validate the condition of existing OSP that may affect the planning and estimation of enterprise and MDU projects.
- Produces practical design packages that can be handed off to a construction contractor to build.
- Distinguishes between in-house Network Fiber Installation Technician (NFIT) completing a customer service order versus a construction contractor to install additional OSP to deliver service to the customer.
- Adapts to sudden changes that alter departmental processes and subtasks; comprehends how the changes affect directives from the Director, OSP Engineering or Director, Network Deployment.
- Shifts priorities on short notice due to a change in the department's internal scope or due to changes initiated by a customer.
- Maintains a level of focus that minimizes error while working on multiple projects associated with FTTH, enterprise, and MDU simultaneously.
- Travels to locations during site surveys, especially when the presence of a Company representative is considered mandatory by a customer and/or for more security sensitive projects such as those at financial institutions, educational institutions, or healthcare facilities.
- Facilitates and conducts onsite meetings with the customers and their stakeholders in a professional manner to meet their needs while promoting Company initiatives; includes relaying the views of external stakeholders to the Director, OSP Engineering or Director, Network Deployment.
- Works on regularly scheduled days as well as unscheduled days and/or beyond regular work hours due to customer or operational demands, as needed.
- Adheres to all Company standard procedures, policies and safety practices in the course of performing work activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in telecommunication Engineering and/or Construction; and bachelor's degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in FTTH OSP detailed (or low level) design.
- Proficient in geospatial software such as Google Earth and 3GIS.
- Ability to comprehend the performance and limitations of wireless equipment such as Cambium and Tarana as part of the Fixed Wireless network, and how the limitations affect the placement of additional OSP.
- Comprehension of the details needed during a field site survey to produce a practical design package that can be handed off to a construction contractor to build.
- Valid US driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a drug screen to operate a company vehicle.
- Experience working independently as well as part of the team.
- Must be prompt, reliable, have a sense of urgency, and quick thinking.
- The ability to effectively communicate both oral and written.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Dedicated in practicing self-development, and willingness to share and implement learnings.
- Physical and mental ability to operate a distance wheel and handheld distance measuring devices (retractable tape measure, laser, etc.), a digital camera or cellular phone camera, and to safely use a fiber handhole hook or manhole hook to access underground plant structures.
- Tolerance to drive and walk in normal to moderate weather conditions associated with the market area such heat combined with humidity, rain, wind, ice, cold, freezing, etc.
- Physical ability to climb portable or fixed ladders to access above the head building structures such as equipment relay racks, ladder racks, raceways, easy paths, roofs, ceilings, etc.
Working Conditions
- Employee may remain in a sitting position for prolonged hours. Working conditions may include being in an open (shared) cubicle/workspace area.
- Employee may be required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to climb ladders and work in an elevated position. Must safely lift, carry and maneuver heavy or awkward objects 30 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Full spectrum color vision required.
- Must be able to work safely in a field or office environment. Must be adept at working in adverse weather conditions.
