Role description:
In this position, you will have the opportunity to utilize your advanced survey skills and experience working in a collaborative team environment to expand surveying services in NC, supported by senior level survey and engineering staff.

Role description:
In this position, you will have the opportunity to utilize your advanced survey skills and experience working in a collaborative team environment to expand surveying services in NC, supported by senior level survey and engineering staff.
Role accountabilities:
- Reports directly to National Survey Leader
- Perform survey and design related calculations at the direction of National Survey Leader and/or various other discipline leads/designers while using the standards established by federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the company, group, client, etc.
- Make sure that all applicable work is in accordance with current NCDOT related standards, specifications, and documentation, as well as the requirements of other clients and the minimum technical standards for land surveyors in the state of NC.
- Resolve right-of-way and parcel information required for NCDOT route surveys and databases.
- Assist other survey staff and find solutions to both complex and simple problems.
- Perform QA/QC and technical review of survey deliverables.
- Interpret engineering related documents and digital files.
- Develop a familiarity with company standards, client expectations, and typical surveying practices.
- Develop geospatial tasks and procedures.
- Integrate scanning and drone technology into current workflows.
- Team with business development group to develop new markets and clients.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications
- 12 or more years' experience as a Senior Survey Technician on majority of NCDOT transportation projects
- Reside near or willingness to move to the Charlotte, NC metro area
- NC PLS,
- Strong background of relevant experience in responsible charge of NCDOT, municipal, industrial, and rail projects
Key Attributes and Skills
- Has a strong background in the respective transportation and other various surveying techniques/applications.
- Required knowledge and proficiency of NCDOT related software such as MicroStation, InRoads (any knowledge of Open Roads Designer a plus)
- Required knowledge of NCDOT standards
- Knowledge of the various instruments and software commonly used in the collection of survey data for design and the establishment of property boundaries.
- Required proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A strong track record of excellent management, leadership, and communication skills
- A willingness to develop survey staff in the furtherance of skill sets and career paths.
