SUMMARY OF POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Essential Functions:
This role will design, implement, maintain, and support our growing network infrastructure
Monitoring, Securing and Maintenance:
  • Monitor network performance using network monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues.
  • Perform daily health checks on network devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Ensure that all network devices are running the latest firmware and patches.
  • Review security logs and alerts to identify potential threats.
  • Perform regular vulnerability scans and security assessments.
  • Respond to security incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Implement and manage VPNs for secure remote access.
  • Conduct regular backups of network configurations and ensure they are stored securely.
  • Participate in network security assessments and implement recommendations.

Configuration and Management:
  • Configure and manage network devices, including VLANs, QoS, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
  • Manage wireless networks, including setting up access points and troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues.
  • Implement and manage firewall rules and security policies on Fortinet devices.

Network Troubleshooting:
  • Respond to and resolve network connectivity issues as they arise.
  • Work with end-users to troubleshoot and resolve network access problems.
  • Collaborate with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to address external connectivity issues.

Documentation:
  • Maintain up-to-date network diagrams and documentation of network configurations.
  • Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common network tasks and troubleshooting steps.

Collaboration and Support:
  • Work with other IT team members to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with other IT systems.
  • Provide network support for server and storage teams.
  • Assist with user support for network-related issues and respond to helpdesk tickets.

User Training and Support:
  • Provide training to end-users on network access and security best practices.
  • Assist users with setting up VPN connections and other remote access solutions


QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TRAINING):

Required Education:

  • Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) certifications


Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent working experience.


Required Experience:
  • Understanding and technical knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP protocol suite, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies (e.g., VLANs, QoS).
  • Experience with network troubleshooting and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Understanding and technical knowledge of firewall technologies, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), and VPN technologies.
  • Understanding of network management and monitoring tools (e.g., SNMP, Nagios, PRTG).
  • Excellent understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols and network security concepts.


Preferred Experience:
  • Experience supporting users in a cloud-hosted virtualized environment.
  • Experience with network configurations in an Azure environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience working with scripting languages like Python and Bash for automating tasks and network management.
  • Experience with network configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Understanding and technical knowledge of digital video camera systems.

Work Environment:

  • This position will be performed in multiple environments, including an office and a manufacturing facility.


Physical Demands:

  • This position may require lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds.


Travel Required:

  • This position may involve travel to other office locations throughout Texas
