UW MEDICAL CENTER-MONTLAKE - RADIATION ONCOLOGY has an outstanding opportunity for a RADIATION THERAPY SPECIALIST / RADIATION THERAPIST.

WORK SCHEDULE

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UW MEDICAL CENTER-MONTLAKE - RADIATION ONCOLOGY - the only cancer care system in the Pacific Northwest with programs for palliative care, merkel cell carcinoma, benign tumors and fast neutron therapy treatment. Our treatment facilities make up the most comprehensive radiation treatment options available in the world today.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver a planned course of basic and routine radiation therapy such as 4-field pelvis, anterior and post lung, whole brain, 3-field head and neck, breast tangents, and external electron beam utilizing radiation therapy equipment
  • Has acquired competency in multiple specialized treatment modalities and methods including Total Body Irradiation, IMRT, IGRT, Fractionated Stereotactic and Neutron regimens
  • Observe patient's condition; recognize the need for emotional and psychological support to patients; refer patients to departmental staff and other health-care professionals as necessary
  • Maintain detailed and accurate daily records of technical, legal and statistical components of treatment
  • Check patient prescription and treatment records for errors
  • Perform daily quality assurance tests on radiation therapy equipment
  • Assist radiation oncologists in tumor localization, simulation and dosimetry procedures using CT scanners, simulators, computers and/or other equipment
  • Acquire CT images as required for planning of radiation therapy
    REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
    - Registered as a radiation therapy technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent organization AND six months of experience in one or more specialized radiation therapy areas OR equivalent education/experience.
    - Licensed by the State of Washington to practice and administer radiation.
