JOB TITLE: Educational Audiologist
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
COMPENSATION: Salary is commensurate with experience; $82,000 - $100,000+
FLSA STATUS: Exempt Position
WORK CALENDAR: 190 days, additional days may be requested/required and additionally compensated.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The Ottawa Area Intermediate School District seeks a passionate and dedicated Educational Audiologist to join our team. The Audiologist will play a critical role in providing audiological services to students within the OAISD. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in audiology, experience working in educational settings, and a commitment to ensuring equal access to education for all students.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
As an Educational Audiologist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing have access to the support necessary for academic success. You will work closely with educators, students, and families to assess hearing needs, provide appropriate interventions, and promote effective communication strategies. The ideal candidate is compassionate, knowledgeable, and possesses strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide student evaluation for eligibility determination in collaboration with Member District teams.
- Provide a detailed description of the educational impact of hearing loss with parents and student teams.
- Advise Member District staff on accommodating students' hearing loss in the classroom and other school-related settings.
- Conduct Hearing Assistive Technology (HAT) evaluations for students.
- Configure and customize HAT to optimize the use for individual students.
- Provide technical assistance and support to Member District staff on applying HAT and resolving technical issues.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings, preferably with knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Working knowledge of basic technology, proficiency in software related to special education and audiological services
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current on best practices in audiology and education.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Proficiency with assistive technology and adaptive materials for students with visual impairments.
- Experience in pediatric audiology
- Experience in management and auditory training techniques
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Audiology from an accredited institution
- Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Audiologist
- Certification in Educational Audiology or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe
- Prefer candidates to be a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology or be certified with the American Board of Audiology
