PRIMARY TASKS
The Network Systems Administrator is responsible for the daily operation and support of district connectivity. This includes Internet access, physical network infrastructure, network systems and components, as well as telephony systems through the installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network hardware, software and related infrastructure. Also participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure, as well as ensuring that network and telephony hardware, such as routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, traffic shaping, wireless systems and phone systems are secure and adhere to organizational values, enabling all district stakeholders.
MUST BE ABLE TO:
Work collaboratively with the installation, configuration and maintenance, of the district's network systems to include all internal and external wired and wireless networks, all telephony services, and clocks, bells and paging systems. Manage end-point hardware, software, assigning and maintaining user account resources, working with maintenance providers as necessary, and maintaining accurate network-related inventories and licensing. Research and make technical recommendations regarding hardware/software purchases, licensing installation, and configuration. Ensure and enforce backend system integrity and security. Work independently as well as collaborate with other technicians, staff, administrators, and faculty.
EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required. Certification(s) desired. Minimum of 4 years' in information technology field with knowledge of computer hardware, software and support, server maintenance, network design, networking equipment and basic understanding of building blueprints required. In-depth experience with network infrastructure and demonstrated expertise in network and telephony hardware, project management, systems/hardware deployment and implementation, network analysis and documentation techniques is preferred. Excellent oral and written skills, the ability to work with a team, personabiilty, and reliability are all essential skills. Willingness to understand and support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan and the District Technology Plan. Must successfully pass a background check and drug test that are satisfactory to the Board of Education.
