The Global Infrastructure & Operations Projects team delivers projects for IT infrastructure and services that underpins the Munich Re global organisation.
We are a global team operating as a change centre of excellence for project delivery. We deliver all change and transformation project activity for infrastructure and operations; the remit of infrastructure and operations extends from the underpinning IT network all the way to the end user desktops. We are responsible for delivery of the business benefits and outcomes, and accountable for the project budget, project roadmap, project resources and timely delivery of the project scope.
Portfolio Leads run multiple global portfolios of activity. Each portfolio delivers the strategic agenda and roadmap for a specific part of the IT Infrastructure. Within each portfolio there are multiple projects, programs and project delivery resources. The portfolios are Workplace, Support, Data Centre, Infrastructure, Integrations, Networks and keeping the light on.
Project and Program Managers will report into one Portfolio Lead; however, they could typically deliver projects for multiple portfolios. The portfolio leads and the PMO report directly in the Global Infrastructure & Operations Projects.

Key Responsibilities
- To run and manage a project of low complexity with a budget up to approximately 1m and take responsibility for the delivery using formal project management techniques as appropriate
- Produce a Charter for each project based upon the agreed scope, define the budget, identify the resources, create the schedule, outline the approach and suggest the sequencing of work required to execute the project effectively
- Drive the delivery of their projects with predictable consistency, efficiency and success, ensuring overall compliance with IT-internal requirements and smooth transition of the resulting solution into production
- To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders and act as the key point of contact for the project
- Identify issues/risks, analyse options and manage impacts to mitigate project delays and take appropriate action to keep the project on track, leveraging support from key stakeholders and/or management as required
- Manage, monitor and report progress against milestones and budgets, ensuring consistent and transparent communications are provided to Management and Executive Leadership
- Ensure all project costs (actuals) are actively tracked and managed, including SOWs/Purchase Orders, contracts, internal resource assignments, and ensure accurate forecasts and accruals are maintained in our Project Management system or record (e.g. Planview, Clarity)
- Coordinate the completion of all documentation, project plans, change requests, approvals, lifecycle steps and compliance gate requests in a timely manner to ensure the project continues to align with the agreed schedule
- Any additional duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be expected to be undertaken in accordance with the role
Knowledge required
- At least 3 to 5 years+ of experience in successfully managing the delivering of IT infrastructure, workplace or application projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment, ideally in a global Finance/Insurance or regulated industry
- Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation
- Ability to lead and direct the project under a unified project lens without compromising business outcomes and priority constraints
- Ability to work in complex organisation structures and tenaciously forge a path for delivery resulting in delivery
- Excellent communication skills, strong experience in managing the diverging interests of various stakeholders
- Proven ability to create meaningful reports and summarise project health status for stakeholder presentations
- Proven ability to manage and track project costs and budgets to agreed baselines
- Ability to drive a mixture of functional and geographic workstreams and co-ordinate step change delivery to the business in a unified way
- Consulting and collaborative working style creating a culture of accountability and sharing
- A self-motivated individual able to work with varying organisational and geographic styles to the end goal of unifying and standardising the delivery culture and capability
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Willingness to travel internationally
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Project/Program Management, e.g., Managing Successful Programs (MSP), PMI, Prince2 and agile project management tools and methodologies
