Under limited supervision, contributes to the development, coordination, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of all core content areas in Title I schools within the DeKalb County School District; supports the Regional Superintendents, Chief Officers, Executive Directors, Directors, Principals, Instructional Staff, Coordinators, and Teachers in all core content instructional initiatives.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are representative of this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Understands the curriculum, district policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to their position, and follows them conscientiously so that they advise the teachers and instructional staff in Title I schools on the implementation of a coherent curriculum aligned with state and national standards. Serves as an instructional leader by ensuring adherence to rigorous and relevant academic standards. Develops and models proficiency lesson plans.
Promotes the use of consistent instructional framework and research-based strategies to include the use of technology as an enhancement to student and staff learning. Attends and/or facilitates Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) meetings assists with development of the teams as needed, and assists teams of teachers/instructional staff in collecting and analyzing student performance data.
Assists the principal with the development and facilitation of the School Improvement Plan with the guidance of the Regional Superintendent and federal programs staff. Aligns human, financial, and material resources to support coherence. Engages the community and school partnerships to foster learning (academic information, family nights, town hall meetings, etc.).
Collaborates on the design and implementation of professional development for teachers and instructional coaches in literacy, math, and other core content areas as needed or identified by the Title I Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA). Designs, implements, and evaluates school and district staff development in concert with district initiatives.
Collaborates with Regional Superintendents to develop a data profile for assigned schools. Assists in the development of processes for staff to secure, analyze and interpret data for promoting instructional improvement. Supports principals, teachers, and teacher leaders in using data at the school level. Serves as liaison with the Assessment and Accountability office and the schools in securing relevant data. Provides input into the development of assessment systems, not required by the state or LEA, that are aligned with curriculum and instruction priorities.
Conducts regular classroom reviews and provides feedback to teachers and instructional staff regarding implementation of instructional practices to support instructional improvement as part of the coaching model to enhance instructional practices.
Works with instructional staff to increase understanding and capacity to address learning needs of all students and meet the unique student needs through differentiated instruction.
Assimilates the Offices of Curriculum and Instruction, Professional Learning and Research, Accountability, and Assessment in cross-functional training to build instructional capacity. Monitors regional and district student achievement and follows up on plans to increase student proficiency.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Education, Education Administration, or closely related area from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university required.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in Education, Education Administration, or closely related schoolbased or managerial/administrative related experience required.
Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in educational leadership at level SRL-5, NL-5, PL-6, or above required. If a level SRL-5, NL-5, PL-6, or above certificate is not held, the individual must be eligible for the NPL certificate in educational leadership.
