The Bernard Group is looking for a Fixture Development Manager to join our Product Development team. You'll be responsible for managing, mentoring and coaching employees working in Product Development as well as the overall effectiveness of your team members. This includes managing variable costs such as direct labor and materials utilized. You'll identify the need for additional resources, human capital or machinery, and creates the cost/benefit analysis. You will oversees the Leads' efforts in learning the new equipment, as the subject matter expert, for training purposes. This position has responsibility for performance reviews, staff development, employee engagement, and addressing any necessary disciplinary actions as required. Additionally, as the manager, you will collaborate with internal teams, mentors team members on build techniques, oversees projects within the department, and delegates duties to meet client expectations and deadlines.

- a Bachelor's degree in areas like Engineering, CAD, Drafting, or similar areas of study preferred
- 8 or more years of experience designing and building models, displays, or prototypes in multiple disciplines, with some experience directing the professional work of others
- 2 or more years management experience preferred
In this position, you will:
Employee and Business Development
- Motivate, mentor, coach and train employees for professional development, employee engagement, and the creation of a safe and inclusive environment.
- Frequently review team members' progress toward their goals, and facilitate the necessary training and hands-on practice to support their successful completion.
- Set high performance expectations and provide feedback, both positive and constructive to ensure those expectations are met.
- Collaborate with the Director, team, and departments to develop, create, and effectively train on standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring all team members adhere to these standards.
- Creating and managing an audit process to ensure expectations are sustained.
- Work closely with shift leads, as well as other production areas' leadership, in prioritizing and directing department work flow.
- Oversee the design, build, and development of prototypes according to customer requirements and vision, ensuring adherence to high standards of quality and functionality.
- Consult and collaborate with relevant project stakeholders and subject matter experts on a wide range of tools and machines to ensure project timelines are met.
- Identify future development opportunities and manage resources to facilitate research, development, and documentation of new products, building methods, machinery, and other areas of potential growth.
- Oversee and assign preventive maintenance identified within the department, ensuring all equipment remains in good operating condition.
- Mentor Developers and Leads on materials' attributes and best practice manufacturing processes.
- Ensures a safe, clean, and organized work area is maintained with the team and own work space.
Project Support and Coordination
- Support Team members on multiple projects simultaneously, leveraging your expertise to help product development teams stay on target within agreed timelines.
- Collaborate closely with Creative, Product Development, Sales, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of design work, meeting targeted timelines identified by project management and customers.
- Serve as the main point of contact for developers' questions, supporting in negotiating and meeting expectations and deadlines.
- Delegate tasks to developers best positioned to complete them and adjust schedules and targets as project needs or budgets change.
- Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with projects.
- Adjusting schedule and targets on the project as needs or budgets change.
- Approve and adjust team members' charged time.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks and projects as requested by management.
