OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The District Accountant is responsible for working alongside the Chief Operating Officer and the Business Services Manager to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the Business Department. The District Accountant responsibilities will include but are not limited to the School's fund accounting, budgeting, reconciliations, monthly grant billing, special revenue funds, performs audits of records and project expenditures for compliance with GAAP, Federal and State laws and regulations, project proposals; and related work as required, consistent with the job description.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in accounting, finance, business services management, accounting and/or budgeting. Experience in fund or municipal accounting is preferred but not required.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills along with being detail oriented.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written skills.
- Strong systems knowledge of Excel, Adobe, Outlook.
- Prior experience within Lawson, Workday, Kronos or equivalent accounting systems is preferred.
- Prior experience with collective bargaining agreements is beneficial.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports according to guidelines and directives set forth in the NH Financial Accounting Handbook for School Districts
- Ability to read and interrupt documents such as accounting statements, business correspondences, government regulations, contracts, and procedure manuals.
- Assist the Chief Operating Officer in budgeting, including maintaining line-item transfers and analyzing revenues and expenditures each month.
- District Accountant assists in overseeing the district's accounting system in conjunction with the City of Nashua Finance Department.
- Prepare monthly and annual reports for administrators, principals, the Board of Education, and state agencies including the annual financial reports to the New Hampshire Departments of Revenue and Education.
- Assists with the annual audit process of all funds in addition to other audits that may be performed during the year.
- Prepares monthly reports for inclusion in the Finance & Operations meeting agenda. Includes projections on budgetary accounts for year-end analysis.
- Works with Human Resources on various payroll adjustments, longevity payments, retro, payments, etc.
- Prepares, analyzes, and ensures accuracy of financial statements, grants, reports, and statistical documents submitted to and received from subordinates and local, state, and federal agencies.
- Prepares annual reports to the state including the DOE-25, MS-22, MS-24, MS-25, and MS-26.
- Supervises Billing & Collection procedures for all facility rentals and student tuition payments.
- Manage and approve timecards for select groups in Kronos.
- Monitor and approve purchasing activity for all expenses $5,000 and below in the Lawson system confirming budgetary control over purchases and authorizing the expenditure of approved funds.
- Ability to work cooperatively in all professional associations.
- Perform all responsibilities in accordance with District POPPS policies and in an ethical and professional manner.
- Assist the Chief Operating Officer in any business-related activities and any other duties as assigned.
