Responsibility Summary:

The Director of Education, Outreach, and Prevention manages ChicagoCAC activities related to prevention education programming in the community, other types of training and education in the community, and education, training, and professional development for ChicagoCAC staff and partners. This includes supervising prevention education specialists and the prevention and coalition coordinator, developing the vision and strategy for primary prevention programming, leading the Chicago Prevention Alliance, and overseeing professional development opportunities and activities for ChicagoCAC staff and partners. In addition, the director of education, outreach, and prevention is responsible for creating an inclusive environment that demonstrates equity and belonging to our clients, ChicagoCAC staff, and partners.

This position will have a hybrid work schedule with some days in-person in the office in Chicago or in-person in the field in Chicago, and some days working remotely at home. Hours will be flexible including some weekend and evening hours as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop, facilitate, and coordinate prevention education programming related to child sexual abuse prevention, internet safety, ChicagoCAC's services, trauma-informed sexual abuse response, mandated reporting, and other related topics.
  • Develop and implement education and prevention strategy, including input into budget creation and department oversight.
  • Supervise prevention education specialists and prevention and coalition coordinator.
  • Act as a liaison to city, state and federal partners regarding education and prevention matters.
    • Responsible for successful relationship building with current and potential partners for education and prevention activities.
    • Provide leadership for the Chicago Prevention Alliance.
    • Lead strategic planning activities related to education and prevention.
    • Oversee tracking of education and prevention activities and prepare periodic reports.
    • Facilitate and/or conduct education sessions and outreach as needed.
    • Coordinate internal training as a part of the overall ChicagoCAC staff professional development.
    • Participate and represent ChicagoCAC in local and national task forces and coalitions as required related to professional development and primary prevention.
    • Plan and develop prevention education content and curriculum in accordance to best practices in the field and emerging research, including elements of the impact of trauma and the importance of trauma informed environments within all content.
    • Research, examine and share information agency-wide regarding national trends, innovative programs and best-practice regarding prevention of child sexual abuse.
    • Supply updated information for ChicagoCAC's website & social media platforms regarding prevention education topics.
    • Work in collaboration with development department to contribute to grant proposals related to department initiatives.
    • Create, design and develop ChicagoCAC e-learning modules and webinars for internal and external audiences.
    • Lead ChicagoCAC's Community Advisory Council, including facilitation of regular meetings and council activities.
    • Plan and implement, with the development department, ChicagoCAC's annual Child Abuse Prevention Month activities including special events and trainings.
    • Maintain agency Continuing Education licenses through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional and Regulation, oversee distribution of continuing education credits at trainings.
    • Participate in local networking and training opportunities.
    • Conduct tours of the ChicagoCAC as requested.
    • Additional duties as required by supervisor.


Discretion

The Director of EOP has a mid-level range of discretion and independent decision-making.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Director of EOP is responsible for the hiring and performance management of the EOP specialists and the prevention and education coordinator.

Supervisory staff are expected to participate either as a volunteer or paid attendee at organization fundraisers (including but not limited to: Luminary Award Dinner, Brew & 'Que, Night of Heroes, etc.) Supervisory staff are also expected to participate in ChicagoCAC sponsored client/staff/community events (including but not limited to: Child Abuse Prevention Month Activities, Back to School Backpack Drive, Kid's Holiday Party, Spirit Squad Events, etc)It is expected that our supervisory staff participate in as many of these events as possible.

Relationships

The Director of EOP works closely with the executive director, chief operating officers, program team members, development department, ChicagoCAC's partner agencies, as well community agencies and organizations.

Qualifications

Minimum education requirement of BA/BSW in human services or related field, with a preference for an MA/MSW. Minimum of 10 years' experience in the field of child sexual abuse. Strong team building, problem solving, organizational, writing and verbal communication skills are necessary. Demonstrated awareness of multiple cultures and the cultural impact of the delivery of services a must. Knowledge of child abuse issues, DCFS, Chicago area social service system and victim's rights necessary.

    • PTO days are used for all days off, including holidays and sick time so you have maximum flexibility in the use of your PTO.
    • Timing of vacations may be dependent on client needs, as that's our first priority.
    • PTO goes up to 40 days after 5 years.
    • Additional PTO for FMLA-related reasons up to 20 days.
    • A remote work policy that provides flexibility in work hours so long as operational needs are met.
    • Regular expert training on evidence-based therapy modalities, which includes being able to earn Continuing Education Units.
