TITLE: ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
START DATE: Anticipated July 1, 2025
QUALIFICATIONS:
A valid Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative or Principal endorsement or Master's Degree in Sports Management/Sports Administration/or related field. A minimum of three years experience as a head coach at the secondary level. A minimum of three years experience as an administrator working directly with student-athletes, families, coaches and senior school administration at the secondary level.

JOB GOAL:
The Director of Athletics serves as the primary administrator overseeing the Mundelein High School Athletic Department. In this capacity the Director of Athletics plans and directs all District athletic operations and intramural activities including, but not limited to, Illinois High School Association (IHSA) competitions and athletic teams. The Athletic Director is also responsible for selecting and evaluating coaches, engaging with the community, and enforcing compliance with all District, State, and Federal rules, regulations, and policies.
SUPERVISES: Department of Athletics Staff
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes and facilitates the short-term and long-term vision and goals of the Department of Athletics. Organizes and administers District extracurricular athletics, both intramural and interscholastic. Selects, mentors, and evaluates athletic coaches and department staff members. Plans professional development and growth experiences for coaches and Athletic Department staff that aligns with the core values, beliefs, and expectations of MHS. Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of the athletic programming events and news. Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events. Hires officials, sports medicine personnel, and security as required, and assumes general responsibility for proper supervision of home games. Arranges transportation for athletic contest participants. Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulation governing the conduct of athletic activities according to Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and North Suburban Conference (NSC). Verifies each athlete's eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport. Prepares and administers the athletic program budget and requisitions program supplies and equipment. Supervises all ticket sales and fund-raising events of the athletic program, and assumes responsibility for proper handling of funds. Arranges all details of visiting teams' needs, including lodging, meals, gymnasium services, and field assistance, as appropriate. Makes arrangements for non-school use of athletic fields and facilities including field and gym practice schedules. Verifies physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season. Administers the insurance program covering school athletes, and assumes responsibility for all processing of reports and claims. Keeps records of the results of all junior and senior high school athletic contests, and maintains a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award, including athletic scholarships. Plans and supervises recognition programs for school athletes. Manages athletic links on the district's webpage. Assists with development, participation and communication of Booster Club. Assists in the overall evaluation of programs and services providing input, support, and data to the division administrator as requested. Maintains all data and records on the training center and prepares reports. Facilitates student athletic leadership programs.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
The individual must be proficient in computer usage, word-processing, spreadsheets, presentation and other school-based software, as well as rSchool facilities scheduler and rSchool activities scheduler, Go Fan, Neptune Gametime System, HUDL, and related software programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The individual must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, be mobile to move from one place to another, stoop, bend and be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
The individual will need to provide own transportation to district business, athletic events, and professional meetings as required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a 12-month (260 work days) position.
SALARY
A regionally competitive salary range between $120,000 and $140,000, benefits package, and IMRF pension to be negotiated and determined based upon proven experiences, qualifications and meeting the Board of Education's criteria.
