The Manager Equipment Planner will be responsible to:
- Collaborates with all levels of clinical staff, facilities, health technology management, architects and other stakeholders to identify medical and non-medical equipment standards for various departments
- Maintain standards list in equipment database for the organization
- Research, evaluate, and recommend appropriate medical equipment and supplies based on the hospital's requirements, budgetary considerations, and industry best practices
- Coordinate with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure timely and cost-effective equipment acquisition
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to medical equipment.
- Knowledge of compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures
- Develops and assists with the budgetary planning of projects. Monitor expenses, negotiate contacts, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising patient safety or quality of care
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of equipment planners and support staff.
- Manage procurement processes, including vendor selection, contract negotiations, and equipment purchasing.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and other stakeholders on project status, budget and timelines
- Reviews approved requests coming in via our capital equipment software system Hyperion.
- Benchmarks quotes using our benchmarking tool ECRI as well as other available sources
- Reports out and prepares monthly EST/EPT project progress or as needed.
- A Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or a related field and 5 yrs experience is required.
- Proven experience as an Equipment Planner, Medical Equipment Coordinator, or similar role in a healthcare setting, preferably in a pediatric hospital preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical equipment types, specifications, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to medical equipment, such as FDA, Joint Commission, and local health department regulations
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial principles related to equipment planning and procurement.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, data analysis and ERP systems
- Certification in Project Management highly desirable
