Slingshot Biosciences is hiring a Field Application Scientist to both generate data at our onsite facility in Emeryville, CA and support our customer base in the field. This role will require up to 50% travel around the Bay Area, Pacific Northwest and Southwest regions of the US. We offer a great opportunity to be involved in product development while also working in a customer-facing role that collaborates with internal teams including Sales, Product Development, and Marketing.

This role reports to the Associate Director of Field Applications and all responsibilities are performed under the direction of the Associate Director.

Responsibilities
  • Generate data to support our catalog portfolio and drive adoption in the market
  • Generate data for presentation at conferences and in publications
  • Verify and help resolve customer complaints with data generation as needed
  • Report product feedback and customer issues to drive product improvement
  • Partner with Sales to demo Slingshot products to prospective customers in a way that helps to develop the opportunity and build trust & credibility both internally & externally.
  • Represent Slingshot Biosciences at conferences, trade shows, and customer visits
  • Consult with customers on best practices and assay optimization with Slingshot products
  • Coordinate and support custom opportunities with sales representatives
  • Foster a positive team-driven work culture

Requirements
  • Work on-site at Emeryville office, with up to 50% travel expected within defined territory
  • 7+ years experience in biotech industry
  • 5+ years experience running flow cytometry assays in the 8-40 color range
  • Ability to proactively troubleshoot and optimize flow cytometry data
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on generating data
  • Ability to communicate data, findings, and challenges, effectively and professionally with peers and management
  • Ability to manage time in a role involving both bench work and field travel
  • Experience with both extracellular and intracellular staining protocols for flow cytometry
  • Working knowledge of flow cytometry best practices, instruments, and reagents
  • High adaptability and flexibility in a very fast-moving and growth-oriented environment
  • Willingness to learn about and promote Slingshot Bioscience products to customers
  • Experience supporting commercial organizations and processes, and ability to function in a trusted advisor capacity for our customers
  • Strong strategic, conceptual, and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational, project management, time management, and communication skills
  • A willingness to learn and improve in the role
  • Must have excellent English communication skills, both verbally and in writing

Preferred

  • Master's with 7+ years of flow cytometry experience or Ph.D. degree with 5+ years of flow cytometry experience in Immunology
  • Experience in a Biotech startup
  • Strong public speaking & presentation skills
  • Experience with clinical flow cytometry assays
  • Experience in analytical development, process development, and/or quality control departments
  • High level of comfort with operational and strategic customer-facing conversations
  • Experience with customer training
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing pre-sales and support capacity

Our salary ranges are calculated by role and level. Your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications. In addition to those factors, we also examine internal equity as well as consider current market rate, and title may be assessed one level lower or higher accordingly. After you join the company your performance, contributions, and results along with business and organizational needs will affect your base salary. The base salary range for this full-time position is between $90,000 - $120,000 + commission + equity + benefits.
