Your role is indispensable in ensuring the timely and budget-conscious execution of power generation, transmission, and distribution controls and monitoring systems designs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Dive into exciting realms such as virtual power plants, power electronics, microgrids, energy management, distributed energy resources, and grid-scale energy storage.
- Collaborate with firmware, software, and hardware teams to define new features, develop control strategies, and craft algorithms that drive innovation.
- Take the lead in crafting electric power utility, microgrid, and smart grid analysis models, contributing to the development of decision support tools that enhance installation and facility resilience. Address diverse challenges and opportunities, from critical energy infrastructure to renewable energy, battery storage, fuel cells, microgrids, and black start exercises.
- Lead/Support BESS customer site design/review of electrical interface power electronics, system, control and UL/CE grid code protective "relay/signal" safety feature required to successfully commission for use IFB as BESS products.
- Lead/Support as SME with complying/conforming to industrial BESS ecosystem use industrial standards such as but not limited to "NFPA-855, NFPA-70, NFPA-70E, IEEE1547, UL1741, IEEE1815.2" as standards for electrical power flow disconnecting means, wiring, overcurrent, short, ground fault, and PCS BI-Direction Inverter/Site isolation switchgear protective safety switch/relay set/use as devices, components, and/or equipment's.
- Lead/Support feasibility review of customer site bid contract design scopes (use-case/layout).
- Lead/Support customer site electrical and control project SOW, providing engineering lead support during project kick-off/executing/closure to address any arising internal/external technical "GAPS" as open actions (RFI's/NC's) for supported customer site.
- Lead/Support as site electrical/control/software "SME" to provide (FSE) required technical guidance in the early phases of troubleshooting to find root cause of customer site issues/failures as technical "GAP."
- Lead/Support, as site electrical/control/software "SME" to provide (FSE) further support to address open site known issues/GAP.
- Expert at team building/communication skills, able to align project level internal/external stakeholders to collaborate, buy-in, and support customer site design/review/troubleshooting effort.
- Able to select, define, and size the design of customer site interface electrical equipment for use with BESS as IFB for various site setup (DC Microgrid, Grid-Tied, PV-Solar)
- Able to define and select the compliant design scheme for customer site interface electrical equipment for use with BESS as IFB for specific UL/CE Grid-Tied code "distributive vs. transmission networks" setup use cases.
- Able to define, select, size or render external subcontractor as "EPC-30%,60%,90%" design gate review of site electronics/grid interface devices, components and equipment's with varying BESS as IFB known interfaces such as (voltage matching [LVac:MVac:HVac], HVDC bus floating vs. grounded in BESS systems, EMS SCADA metering, EMS energy management, EMS BESS/PCS aggregated control SCADA power command Slew/Ramp response HIL/SIL study).
- Issue SLD as FBD markup of customer site layout of electrical and use case to meet bid contract reviewed, awarded/executed technical scope of work.
- Support/participate as site/grid electrical SME cognizant taskforce owner, aligning to charter initiative taskforce goals/efforts, that ensures open customer site technical GAP as RFI's and NC's are addressed to align support of external/internal "schedule/cost/value" TCO executed organizational goals.
- Create, Maintain and Vault as documentation for customer sites electrical/control interface setup, use case equipment layout, connectivity, routing, splicing, such as but not limited to site electrical deliverables as "FBD-SLD, 30%, 60%, 90% design package drawings, 100% electrical as built".
- Create, and progress customer sites electrical/control interface setup, use case equipment layout, connectivity, routing, splicing seen/known technical GAPs as NC's/RFI's problem statement as well as root-cause study findings, mitigation dispositions/resolution plan/paths.
- Develop as BKM-LL most seen issues and known solutions as a site setup Q/A technical cutsheet.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in EMS design, development, and implementation for grid scale applications.
- Strong understanding of electrical grid operations, control systems, and smart grid technologies.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, Java) and relevant software tools.
- Experience with SCADA systems, PLCs, and real-time data acquisition.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to EMS and grid operations.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with renewable energy integration and microgrid management.
- Familiarity with machine learning and data analytics applied to EMS.
Preferred Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical engineering, control systems, and grid management.
- Will have worked closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration and operation of EMS solutions that enhance grid efficiency, stability, and resilience.
