Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Under general supervision oversees the operation and maintenance of a wide variety of control systems that are used to continuously operate production support equipment. Due to variation in the nature and function of these systems, this position requires extensive knowledge of control system operation and programming to safely modify, maintain, and interact with the controls portion of these systems. The systems being controlled including chemical delivery, chemical detection (life-safety), industrial wastewater treatment, and security are integral to the safe operation of the manufacturing facility.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering

Preferred areas of study include Electrical Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Prior experience working with Allen Bradley Process Logix Controllers (PLC), RSLogix's, Wonderware, and other logic controller software and human machine interface applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote a safe work environment through identification and correction of unsafe conditions and be a role model in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).


  • Design, installation, programming, documentation, and performing day-to-day troubleshooting and maintenance of numerous types of controllers including Allen Bradley, Siemens, Yaskawa, and Johnson Controls with user interfaces like Wonderware and numerous touch screen programs. Specific areas of responsibility include:

    • Measurement and control of incoming streams, chemical dosing for the precipitation and removal of solids, precious metal recovery, and pH adjustment in an industrial wastewater treatment facility.
    • Operation and control of ultra-high purity gas and liquid chemical delivery systems that serve key production areas.
    • Gas quality monitoring systems that utilize Ametek and Horiba analyzers and ethernet connectivity to communicate with an in-house designed controller for analyzing, logging, and reporting of data related to the purity of gas delivered to a production process.
    • Operation and maintenance air sampling analysis systems used to detect chemical leaks in the vicinity of more than 200 monitoring points. These critical life-safety systems use controls to quickly identify a leak, initiate alarms, shutdown equipment, and notify the appropriate personnel.
    • Operation and control of four scrubber systems that are used to abate emissions of toxic gases and particulate matter from manufacturing processes in the plant. The continuous operation of these systems is critical to maintaining compliance with state issued permits and for the health and safety of employees.
    • Miscellaneous process support including security surveillance and alerts, process cooling water, HVAC controls, facility wide communication systems, notifier systems, variable frequency drive support and other projects as they arise in other production areas


  • Complete other projects, as assigned, in support of the production and facility operations.
