Position Description

This position will report to the VP Finance, NA and supports activities related to our local financial reporting. This position will be involved in month end close activities and reviews, some contact with external auditors as well as special projects for different local and global processes and financial aspects of M&A.

Accounting

- Review of the financial statement packages

- Review month-end reconciliations to support the monthly close process, such as Bank reconciliation, WIP reconciliation and deferred revenue

- Review month-end close procedures

- Review of the quarterly and year-end closing calendars

- Implementation of new accounting pronouncements

- Perform technical accounting research to identify proper accounting treatment and support current policies

- Roll out internal controls to recently acquired subsidiaries.

Strategic Support

- Support NA audit engagement with external auditors

- Support compliance with financial or SOX audits

- Assist in the implementation of internal controls and process improvement.

- Identify and implement process improvements as they arise to improve efficiency and compliance

- Review supporting schedules provided by various internal groups

- Assist in operational needs such as reviewing and approving contracts and sales orders.

- Support ongoing local and global process improvement and projects

Integration and acquisition support

- Assist in due diligence of potential acquisitions, including PPA and accounting memos

- Lead the integration of acquired companies

- Participate in preparation of Purchase accounting memos & related accounting treatments of acquired entities

- Align acquired entity accounting systems with US GAAP and QIAGEN existing practices

- Manage acquired entities accounting reports

Position Requirements

- Bachelors degree in Accounting

- CPA required

- 5 years "Big Four" audit experience

- Supervisory experience and experience with companies that have multiple entities

- Preferred some experience with SAP or other large ERP systems

- Office attendance required (min. 3 days per week)

- Problem solver who can work independently and demonstrate strong organizational skills and self-management

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create relationships in the organization with very good communication skills also in an international environment

- Open-minded and flexible in thought and action

- Person could expect up to 10% travel while integrating a subsidiary
