Position Summary: The Special Education Services Specialist reports to the Director of Special Education and will assist with the development of instructional content and provide feedback to enhance effective instruction and student learning. The Special Education Specialist will review and monitor compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, including training and staff development activities.
Salary Range: Effective 7/1/2024 $91187.74---$110338.98
Time Schedule: 52 Week

- Develop and implement training and other staff development activities related to federal and state regulations pertaining to delivery of special education services.
- Prepare and audit required documentation and reporting for federal and state agencies as required.
- Assures compliance with Federal and State laws and guidelines as directed. Provides assistance to building related due process, interventions, etc.
- Assist with oversight of the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEP) in order to ensure that appropriate specialized services to identified students, including public, nonpublic, and applicable scholarship situations.
- Ensure the coaching model is being followed and implemented as required.
- Develop and provide professional development and training support to buildings as needed.
- Collaborates and assists with school improvement programs and initiatives.
- Assist with audits and reviews in order to ensure that EMIS information is accurate and appropriately recorded. Assist with monitoring electronic Individualized Education Plans (IEP/ETR) and Section 504 compliance programs as directed.
- Assists buildings with the gathering, examination and analysis of formative and summative assessment data to identify learning concerns for individual students and groups of students.
- Assist with program planning and evaluation of curriculum for special education and alternative programs.
- Work with District MTSS specialists and other district personnel to identify district instructional and support needs.
- Keeps current on researched based instructional strategies and best practices with an emphasis in student engagement and learning.
- Demonstrates ability to navigate and utilize technology-based applications appropriate to teaching and learning environments.
- Monitors and audits the use of assessments, pacing guides and content standards across the curriculum.
- Operates with a growth mindset and produces innovative strategies to support teaching and learning.
- Implements and participates in the District MTSS Committee process as directed.
- Implements and monitors strategies to ensure compliance with state and federal accountability measures.
- Conducts the interview and selection process as assigned for departmental vacancies.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
- Five or more years of experience related to the delivery of special education services.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- A Master's Degree in Education or related field.
- Experience in instructional coaching or related role.
- Frequent district wide travel and occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
- Subject to frequent interruptions, noises, odors, temperatures throughout the work day.
- Sits, stands and moves intermittently throughout the work day.
