SENIOR PROCESS ENGINEER

General Summary

Directly responsible for providing technical support to SCM's Gas, Crude and Water Operations for assets which include processing plants, compressor stations, pump stations, crude terminals, treating facilities, measurement facilities, SWD's and gathering systems. Key areas of support include, but are not limited to, process modeling, flow assurance, equipment design, facility throughput optimization, performance monitoring, chemical program evaluation, regulatory compliance, OPEX reduction, equipment failure & incident evaluations and commissioning support.

GOALS / OBJECTIVES
  • Maximize system and facility throughput to achieve SCM and customer production goals
  • Ensure SCM assets meet or exceed required performance requirements and downstream shipper quality specifications
  • Optimize OPEX cost efficiency through continual improvement to SCM's asset performance and operational processes
  • Ensure in-service assets are in compliance with all Regulatory, Environmental, Health & Safety, and SCM's ESG requirements

  • Roles and Responsibilities

    The following is representative of the responsibilities that may be required of the Sr. Process Engineer.
    • Field visits to SCM assets in West Texas to assist field operations in identifying, evaluating, and troubleshooting operational issues as required.
    • Maintain system flow assurance models and facility process simulation models to ensure efficient operability, maximum production throughput and achieve target product recoveries.
    • Perform mass & material balances to support emissions reporting, assist in rectifying measurement imbalances, estimate system contaminant concentrations, etc.
    • Evaluate key gas processing systems (e.g. TEG, Amine, Cryo, stabilization, compression) to troubleshoot reliability and runtime issues and/or implement performance improvement initiatives.
    • Work with Operations to identify, evaluate. and implement OPEX reduction opportunities.
    • Review and evaluate control system device and gas/crude quality measurement device suitability and performance.
    • Evaluate and mitigate process equipment and control system failures; participate in RCA's.
    • Evaluate customer gas/crude spec analyses to assess potential negative impacts on system integrity and spec variance outside of acceptable downstream shipper requirements.
    • Review customer chemical programs and evaluate impacts to SCM's pipeline system, facilities and operations.
    • Collaborate with field operations to identify and implement process and procedural improvements.
    • Develop and maintain operations KPI's and metrics as required.
    • Directly manage small OPEX projects as required; Define scope, preliminary budget and schedule for evaluation on large OPEX projects for handover to Project Execution Team.
    • Provide engineering representation in pertinent company meetings.
    • Facilitate MOCs, risk assessments, HAZOPs/HAZIDs, and PHAs for modifications to existing assets
    • Participate in Capital Project design/model reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPS/HAZIDS, PHA's, and development plan reviews as required.
    • Provide feedback on Operations lessons learned and operational improvement to the Capital Projects team for implementation into design standards and specifications.
    • Provide commissioning and startup support for Capital Projects if required.

    Minimum Requirements
    • B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
    • Minimum 15 years of experience in the oil & gas industry with specific experience in Midstream gas gathering and processing
    • Travel to West Texas as required
    • Based in Houston, Texas
    • Direct employment with E&P or Midstream companies preferred
    • Process simulation experience using Promax and Hysys or other similar software packages
    • Proficient in working with P&IDs, PFDs, equipment specification sheets, and other documents pertinent to engineering support for Midstream systems.
    • Ability to establish, maintain positive working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
    • Strong organizational, decision-making, time management, and written/verbal communication skills
    • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work without daily oversight
    • Knowledge of industry codes and standards related to Midstream asset design and operation
