About the Team:
The Undersea Systems and Acoustics (USA) Group in the STR Sensors Division develops and delivers advanced undersea sensor and signal processing systems centered around intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and counter-ISR. Our applications range from detection and classification problems to acoustic warfare and protection analogous to electronic warfare. Our systems range from advanced algorithms leveraging high performance computing to low size, weight, and power (SWAP) distributed uncrewed systems supporting real-time embedded processing. Using modeling and simulation, experimental campaigns, and prototyping coupled with testing that progresses through bench-top, tank, lake, and at-sea demonstrations, we mature innovative concepts into prototypes and fielded systems to address critical defense needs with agility, persistence, and scale.
The Role:
The primary role of this position is to be responsible for key contributions in implementing signal processing algorithms on distributed undersea systems. Strong embedded coding with a range of languages (C++, python if supported, etc.) and experience implementing signal processing algorithms on low-power processors is expected. Given we value a collaborative work environment, the ideal candidate would also be multi-disciplinary and be adaptive to changing demands while exhibiting a willingness to function in supporting roles in all domains. Further, supporting centralized documentation and data quality assurances tasks is central to success in our collaborative team.

What you will do:
Example tasks would include:
Hardware/Electrical
- Develop novel solutions for compact, reliable interconnectivity of various electrical components
- Develop comprehensive testing solutions to validate the electrical system operability
- Develop schematic capture and design for custom circuit board components, which brings multiple integrated circuits together into a single, compact circuit
Software/DevOps
- Establish a unit testing framework to vertically and horizontally test and integrate a variety of software ranging from C to Python
- Build development containers and share across teams to standardize software development practices
- Remain at the cutting edge of software and software best practices
- Evaluate the right software solution for the task and be willing to prepare software packages based on demands of the project
Test/Test Support
- Coordinate customers and support organizations to establish a comprehensive test agenda
- Plan and organize large scale field tests across multi-disciplinary teams
- Synthesize salient test outcomes and assemble tailored briefings to maintain company leadership and customers aware of key program progress milestones
Who you are:

- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
- Hands-on experience implementing and testing signal processing software on on low-power processors (ARM, micro-controllers, etc.)
- Proficiency in Linux operating system variants
- Experience working in a development environment using development containers
- Experience with git and tool suites such as Atlassian (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
