Title: Manager III, Local School Accounting
Under general supervision, performs advanced-level accounting functions in support of the Local School Accounting operations for DeKalb County School District (DCSD).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Supervises and evaluates work responsibilities of local school accounting staff, including ensuring the Local School Accounting Department is staffed with qualified financial personnel and ensuring for their continued development.
- Serves as a liaison between the Finance Division and the Area Superintendents, Principals and Bookkeepers, and After-School Directors.
- Directs the daily support provided by the Local School Accounting Department to the District's 137 schools, ensuring consistency and compliance is maintained across all schools.
- Develops, implements, and monitors the district-wide local school accounting policies and procedures.
- Oversees the collection and analysis of data to detect deficient controls, inefficiencies, and/or non-compliance with District policies. Evaluates risks and develops improvement recommendations.
- Monitors and performs required monthly and annual accounting and reporting schedules necessary for local school accounting.
- Develops and provides month/quarter/annual training(s) to school and department bookkeepers on local school accounting policies and procedures.
- Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of the MUNIS School Accounting module and other Local School Accounting software applications.
- Counsels with staff and/or other employees with questions about local school accounting in DCSD
- Collaborates with the Finance and other Division staff on any noted issues/ deficiencies/ improvement needs observed in relation to Local School Accounting functions. Ensures implementation of recommended solutions.
- Provide advanced subject matter support on complex Finance issues.
- Provide professional customer service to all stakeholders, internal and external.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related area is required.
- Master's degree from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related area is preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years supervisory level accounting, finance or closely related experience required.
