BAE Systems is seeking a Deputy Director of Engineering and Logistics to support our Combat Missions Systems Business Area. Combat Mission Systems (CMS) focuses the development, production and integration of systems to provide advanced solutions across ground, amphibious and maritime platforms to meet our customers' mission requirements. The business area's numerous sites across the United States employ advanced manufacturing technologies, a highly skilled workforce and robust supplier base to deliver affordable and technologically superior solutions. Product lines include Amphibious Vehicles, Ground Vehicles and Weapon Systems. The CMS Engineering Logistics organization is comprised of approximately 1800 professionals spanning 10 locations across the US.
The CMS Deputy Director proactively partners with the CMS Director of Engineering and Logistics to assist in the operation of the engineering function and shape future direction. They act on behalf of the Director Engineering and Logistics in their absence as a trusted advisor on all engineering and logistics related issues.

Specific job requirements and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Partner and collaborate across CMS Engineering & Logistics (Functional Engineering Directors and Product Line Engineering Leaders) as well as other functions to effectively support the CMS enterprise
- Identify and support the development of critical skills and resources
- Develop and maintain measures related to engineering performance
- Develop and lead continuous improvement activities and ensure adoption within the organization
- Improve engineering process set and ensure engineering is audit ready at all times
- Establish goals, performance standards and budgets
- Ensure metrics provide a reliable measure of quality and performance
- Ensure appropriate corrective actions are established and closed
- Facilitate Engineering tools and capital activities
Position can be located in Sterling Heights, MI; Minneapolis, Min or York, PA
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field and 12+ years work experience or equivalent experience
- Experience in technical leadership of defense programs and mission/domain knowledge of existing combat vehicle and weapon systems capabilities relevant to the business
- Proven experience in project management, working as a Cost Account leader (CAM, IPT, Program Manager, or Capture Manager), meeting technical, schedule, and cost commitments
- Proven ability to lead a diverse organization across multiple sites (domestic and international) with different cultures and experience levels
- Experience with formulating a vision and implementing action plans to achieve goals
- Experience collaborating and driving improvement across the functions responsible for product development including operations, quality, and program management
- Proven ability to share and transfer technology and know-how across organizational boundaries
- Demonstrate alignment with the businesses cultural principles and model safe and ethical behavior
- Ensure compliance with appropriate Company policies and procedures, especially those related to product design and support
- Proven performance in management, mentoring, coaching and communication
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and decision-making ability
- Business acumen and project leadership skills
- Ability to influence at all levels
