Thank you for your interest in AVRMC! Job Description Manages the staff in the Respiratory Care & Neurodiagnostic Departments (Sleep Center & EEG).
Assists in formulating the department budget.
Consults with staff, physicians, and the CNO on respiratory problems and interpretation of facility policies to ensure patient needs are met.
Assists with the direction of Respiratory Care services, administers respiratory therapy care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardiopulmonary system as required.
Develops and maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in quality improvement activities.
Supervises the Sleep Lab and EEG supervisor.
Knowledge of medications, treatments, and their correct administration, based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors by checking at least two of the following: checking the name band with the requisition, calling the patient by name, asking their date of birth, social security number and or checking information with the face sheet or requisition. Care must be taken to protect patient confidentiality.
Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs of the patient and evaluates effectiveness of learning; patient's family is included in teaching as appropriate.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
Directs the RT staff. Supports and empowers staff to embrace the mission, vision, and value statement of the hospital.
Performs management activities including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, termination, and employee disciplinary actions.
Education/Skills* Current State of Colorado Respiratory Therapist license, required.
Graduate of an AMA-approved school of respiratory therapy required.
Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services.
At least one year's previous experience in departmental management.
Current BLS certification required.
Current ACLS certification required.
Current NRP certification required.
