Role Purpose Statement
The Head of Strategic Infrastructure will be responsible for oversight and optimization of the infrastructure assets of LSG Sky Chefs, across the extensive fleet of catering and support trucks, as well as the infrastructure and equipment at facilities and warehouses. This position will ensure the infrastructure assets meet the operational capacity/capability requirements as well as industry standards and regulatory requirements, while optimizing service level, utilization, operating costs and capital investment.
Main Accountabilities
Environmental Systems
Functional Interfaces and Collaboration: Manage key interfaces and work closely with COO functions such as Operational Excellence, production (all levels to CSC managers), and other functions such as FP&A, Commercial, Procurement, HR, etc.
Operational Fleet Planning: Take fleet capacity and capability requirements as an input from the Strategic Fleet Planning process. Assess fleet age, capacity utilization and availability performance to assess investment needs. Work closely with Procurement to source trucks in time and budget to meet operational requirements. Track and monitor progress of truck delivery progress across vendors. Work closely with Operational Excellence and manufacturing facilities to ensure the fleet allocation is balanced across the facilities nationwide.
Fleet Maintenance: Monitor and analyze breakdowns/up-time, planned and unplanned maintenance costs, fleet age. Define and implement the optimal maintenance model/set-up (in-house/outsourced/hybrid) to maximize utilization with minimal cost. Work closely with Procurement to source maintenance services in line with selected model. Oversee day-to-day maintenance operations at local/regional level.
Fleet Performance: Monitor fleet performance metrics (e.g., fleet age and condition, utilization, fuel consumption, breakdown frequency, maintenance efficiency, safety and compliance, operating costs) and implement improvement actions.
Facility Investments & Project Management: Own the process from "project approval" to "commissioning" and hand-over to operations. Lead the execution and delivery of infrastructure projects, including new builds, renovations, and technology/IT infrastructure upgrades. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
Facility Maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure all infrastructure such as real estate, building infrastructure (e.g., floors, roofs, piping), equipment (e.g., dishwashers, refrigeration, air conditioning, automation solutions) operate efficiently, safely and meet the operational requirements and service levels. Manage day-to-day operation of in-house maintenance services. Oversee external maintenance service providers to ensure SLAs are met.
Facility Performance: Monitor facility performance metrics (e.g., energy efficiency, uptime, maintenance efficiency, safety and compliance, operating costs) and implement improvement actions.
Vendor Management: Work closely with Procurement to tender services, select vendors, manage and execute contracts, monitor vendor performance, manage cost and budget, approve/sign-off on contract requirements and payments
Leadership
Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed
Collaborate with peers both within and outside the Operations organizations; support the Executive leadership team with strategic decisions and recommendations
Guide, motivate and develop the direct and indirect subordinate employees
Plan, implement and control the cost and project budget in the area of responsibility; initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
15+ years of experience in operations management, with at least 10 years leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
Airline Catering, Food processing, or Consumer goods industry experience desired.
Proven record of accomplishment of managing infrastructure projects, from inception to completion.
Hands-on experience in leading infrastructure maintenance and performance management processes
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to fleet and facilities management.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills from shop floor to boardroom.
Ability to travel extensively to various manufacturing facilities across the United States.
Candidate must be willing to relocate to Texas, or must live within DFW/Metroplex Area.
