COMPENSATION: Salary to be commensurate with experience. Grade 18 ($73,800 - $92,000)

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: The OAISD seeks a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Specially Designed Instruction and Technical Assistance Consultant. As part of our General Supervision responsibilities, this role is pivotal in providing systems-level support and district capacity building around the understanding and implementation of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) regulations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of educational policies, experience in instructional design for diverse learners, and a passion for supporting educators and administrators in improving outcomes for students with disabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Consultation and Technical Assistance:
    • Provide expert guidance and consultation to district administrators, educators, and stakeholders on the interpretation and application of IDEA regulations.
    • Offer technical assistance to support the development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) and specially designed instruction (SDI) for students with disabilities.
    • Collaborate with school teams to address complex cases and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Professional Development and Training:
    • Design and deliver professional development sessions, workshops, and seminars focused on effective SDI practices and compliance with IDEA requirements.
    • Develop resources, toolkits, and training materials to support educators in understanding and implementing best practices in special education.
  • Systems-Level Support:
    • Work collaboratively with member district leadership to assess needs and develop strategies for enhancing special education services and supports.
    • Assist in the development and refinement of policies, procedures, and practices related to special education service delivery.
    • Analyze data and trends to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts at the district level.
  • Capacity Building and Collaboration:
    • Build the capacity of educators and administrators to improve outcomes for students with disabilities through coaching, mentoring, and modeling effective practices.
    • Foster collaborative relationships with community organizations, agencies, and advocacy groups to enhance support services for students with disabilities.
    • Participate in committees, task forces, and workgroups focused on improving special education services and outcomes.

  • Qualifications:
    • Minimum Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
    • Extensive knowledge of IDEA regulations, special education law, and evidence-based practices in SDI.
    • Experience in providing professional development and technical assistance to educators and administrators.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced educational environment.
    • Certification as a Special Education Administrator or related credential (desired).
