DESCRIPTION:
This School Psychologist position provides MTSS and special education evaluations and consultation to a building.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Meet the criteria of the Michigan Department of Education to function as a school psychologist. Possess a Specialist Degree or equivalent in School Psychology. Have working knowledge of MTSS, curriculum, individualized instructions, and progress monitoring. Have working knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional Impairments, and Positive Behavior Intervention Supports. Have working knowledge of early childhood development and delays. Experience in the role of psychological examiner in a public school setting is desirable.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist teachers to understand and support the learning problems and behavior challenges of children with special needs through evaluations and consultation. Provide active support, guidance and leadership in MTSS. Keep appropriate records for each child referred. Write psychological reports and contribute to the IEP development of each child evaluated or serviced. Serve as a member of various educational planning committees for suspected children with special needs. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
