The EHS Manager at RLWS is an important member of the Leadership Team. The function is backed by the EHS Steering Committee and a dedicated Environmental Specialist. The EHS Manager is responsible for determining, planning, coordinating, scheduling and directing Environment, Health and Safety activities for 700+ domestic employees and a subject-matter-expert resource for our international locations.

The person selected will partner with key internal and external constituents to deliver effective EHS programs designed specifically to protect human health. They will develop and deliver effective safety training, manage contractors and vendor relationships, ensure regulatory compliance and strive for continuous improvement in EHS. In addition, duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the planning, directing, and coordinating EHS compliance activities through cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and implement organization-wide and location specific safety policies, procedures and programs to achieve and maintain compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage the OSHA compliance trainings and programs; lead employee and community Right-to-Know program in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Manage ergonomic assessments, evaluations, and continuous improvement processes to reduce work/job-related trauma while keeping within production requirements.
  • Supplies analytical support to manufacturing operations, including leading process change implementation related to work/job design.
  • Reviews processes, procedures, facilities and engineering change orders to assure conformance to recognized safety regulations, standards and guidelines.
  • Conducts incident investigations, hazard assessments, safety regulatory analysis and reporting.
  • Assist the organization in the development of manufacturing processes through the use of safe lean concepts.
  • Respond to customer and vendor requests for safety compliance.
  • Manage the fire protection program for all facilities, lead and contribute to capital projects & due diligence.
  • Manages WC-related injuries/illnesses, focusing on workplace safety prevention and ergonomics program, while utilizing and enhancing light-duty program; manage third-party WC administrator.
  • Address unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and hazards in your respective work area(s) and evaluate the ensuing correction(s).
  • Reports to the Vice President of Human Resources; supervises the Environmental Specialist.

Qualifications: Desire to live, work and play in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering or related field required. Minimum of five (5) years' experience working in Safety or EHS in a manufacturing environment required. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other nationally recognized credentials would be desirable. Ability to travel to multiple sites as needed; occasional overnight travel will be required. Coaching/Training/Teaching skills in one-on-one, small group and for large audiences will be essential. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required. Personal computing, planning, project management, time management and efficient administrative skills are key competencies. Desire to become an international EHS executive preferred.
